AMES, Iowa-Iowa State (10-5) begins Big 12 Conference play with a Saturday evening battle against Baylor (12-2) in Waco, Texas. ISU has lost three-straight games in the Ferrell Center. ISU is 38-61 all-time in conference openers, 9-31 in road league openers and 6-5 in Big 12 openers. ISU has won its last two Big 12 openers and is 2-3 in Big 12 road openers, winning both at Missouri. The Cyclones have been a much improved team in their last eight games. ISU has won seven of its last eight contests and has shot 49.7 percent from the field in its last seven games.
