time to bury a soiled basketball season, unless something pops on Ku's crime scene.

So, here's a start on ranking the conference going into spring games.

  1. oSu - best offense, great receivers & QB, plus favorable home schedule
  2. OU - Johnny Football Lite returns for senior year
  3. K-State - will wizard be there to coach 'em?
  4. WVU - supposedly great QB transfer from Gators, Will Grier
  5. UT - always overrated, so why change with new coach
  6. ISU - steady improvement starts showing in record
  7. TCU - ended last season poorly
  8. Baylor - pugatory time for da bears
  9. Tech - scores a lot allows more
  10. Ku - claim best receiving corps in the league

I agree with this one, with TCU and KST being interchangeable.

I would love for Texas and Baylor to go down and stay down, but I unfortunately just don't see it happening. I think Tech is going to regress pretty bad without Mahomes, though -- his production is going to be hard to replicate.

I really wish there was a different team than Baylor in the conference and I hope they go 0-12.

I hope ISU has a game like Tech last year against them and finishes above them. Similar may have happened last season if they were to play in November.

It was a response to the guy who had K-State in the second tier. That's just cat bait, isn't it?
Given what KSU has returning on offense and their conference schedule, I'd be surprised if they weren't top 3-4 in the Big 12.

Now where I could see them slipping is if Snyders health deninishes or if they don't replace what they lost on defense sufficiently.

K-State will challenge for the conference title. Some project them as a dark horse for the playoff. But I agree, Snyder's health could put a real damper on this season. His influence on the club is immeasurable for me.

I do see KSU at the 10-2 or 9-3 mark. Don't think they'll be close enough for a shot at the playoff. I just don't think anyone in Big 12 will beat Baker Mayfield and then there's that other guy Mason Rudolph.

How will KSU replace guys like Lee and Willis?

Four star senior Tanner Wood will replace Willis. Wood was third-man-in last year.

Elijah Lee is more problematic because State also lost his running mate to graduation. Lee left early for the NFL.
K-State did recruit heavily to linebacker.

One of this year's captains, walk-on senior Trent Tanking, may be a late blooming Mark Simoneau type. I expect the other slot to be filled by four star freshman, Daniel Green, an incoming juco or somebody from the red shirt class. Snyder likes to 'play old,' so that probably means it won't be Green.

Don't they lose another starter or two from the 2016 defense? I think i remember seeing they return 6 or 7 guys.

Starting safety and nickle also graduated. Both corners return. O'line returns 5 of 6. Receivers return 2 of 3. QB and fullback return. Running back was by committee; stud, oft-injured, frosh returns, Alex Barnes.

BTW, Jessie Ertz is out for the spring. Had shoulder surgery.
