Info: New CF Site Language Rules

Since the inception of CycloneFanatic, we have tried to keep the site family-friendly by keeping profanity off the board. Lately, many of you have been attempting to get around the profanity filter by leaving out or replacing key letters. The posting guidelines clearly state that this is unacceptable.

I'm asking all of you to please respect the rules regarding profanity. If you think you have to use alternate letters/characters, intentionally misspell, or use another form of the word so that it doesn't get filtered, then don't use the word at all.

Until now we have been editing these "words" out of posts when we see them - but going forward we will just delete these posts altogether, rather than take the extra time to edit them.

If you see a post that has profanity (or any other disallowed content), don't quote it or your post may get deleted as well. We simply can't take the time to edit every reply that quotes an unacceptable post.

And don't forget to just let the language filter do its work by just typing the profanity if you need to swear. I know sometimes people think they are helping by adding other characters to profanity (@#*, etc.) but just type the word and the filter will asterisk it out for you.

As a reminder to the CF community, language filter violations will no longer be tolerated. In the past 24 hours following the ISU/UofI game, the moderating staff has been busy editing numerous posts that circumvented the language filter. For now on, the moderating staff will merely delete the offending posts.

If you find yourself needing to swear in a post to get your point across, then type the word and allow the filter to do its job. Otherwise your post will be deleted.

It seems a lot of you have forgotten that we have a filter for the bad words some of you love to use. If you feel the need to type a bad word, just type it. The filter will and should catch it. Stop trying to be creative to get passed the filter. Your posts will be deleted and in some cases more extreme action will be taken.
