Peace Tree Brewery adding DM location

This story on WHOTV13 mentions near the end that they are opening a 2nd location in the East Village.

My guess is they are the brewery rumored to be going into the building that is to be rehabbed on E Court Avenue that I mentioned in the Iowa Tap Room thread.

(not really crazy about the flat surface parking lot, but it is already there and they are reducing it in size and adding some green-space to soften it up a bit.)

Would it be a 2nd brewery, or just taproom? seems interesting to open just a taproom when the Iowa Taproom is serving a solid chunk of your line up down the road

I don't like the Belgian yeast beers as much, nor do I care for the blatant Hawkeye-ization, but No Coast IPA is a seriously good beer.

I'm a big fan of Blonde Fatale. I haven't really liked the others I've tried (the red is the one I specifically remember)

I haven't had any awful beers from them, but nothing I'd need to buy again. I think Blonde Fatale is the best beer I've had from them, and when that type of beer is what you're best at, you need to reevaluate things. :twitcy:

Hopefully they'll up the ante if they come to DSM in whatever capacity. :yes:

Agreed but they are just working with what they have here. Here is current look of the building:

As you can see, the building appears to have a false front on it hiding the true shape of it. Per the rendering, they'll be removing that squared-off front half.

Well....it is 1/2 block from Iowa Tap Room to E Court Ave. You do have to travel west on E Court and the rumored Peach Tree location is pretty much the corner of E Court Ave and 4th. So, probably closer to 1 1/2 blocks.

I don't know if their beer is good or not, but Des Moines could probably support a few more breweries. People love to drink in the afternoon, but they hate going to bars in the afternoon.
