University of Northern Iowa President Ben Allen released a statement this morning offering more details on where he will donate
javascript:void(null);javascript:void(null);his 4 percent raise. The state Board of Regents yesterday increased his salary by $12,800 to $332,800.
“I appreciate the Board’s endorsement of my work at UNI. However, in this very difficult budget environment for UNI, I do not think it would be appropriate for me to take a pay raise at this time. My wife, Pat, and I plan to give this salary increase to the UNI Foundation for scholarships and other student support.â€
The university said Allen and his wife, Pat, are in the process of establishing an endowment fund that will provide scholarships for women in math and science fields.
