Here is my mock prediction for this weekend, particulary the Purdue game. Hopefully my photoshopped picture of Matt Painter/Gene Keady is working.:yes:

Vegas Classic Mock Prediction by Jerry Hales
:: December 20th, 2007 :: 11:06 am
The Cyclones cruise into Las Vegas on a 3 game winning streak this weekend, and although none of the wins came against decent competition they have helped instill some confidence and a winning mentality with the team. ISU will face Purdue on Saturday evening and then turn around and play the winner (according to this prediction) of the Alabama/Missouri State game on Sunday. It’s been a while since I’ve made a prediction because of the level of competition, but I’m sure the rust will shake right off so get ready to make some quick cash on these picks.
In the early going, it’s apparent that Coach McDermott is wanting to have some fun with Coach Matt Painter of the Boilermakers. Every Cyclone starter goes over after they’re announced to shake his hand and says “Good luck Coach Keadyâ€. The students that have made the trip to Vegas even have signs made up with Painter’s face photoshopped into Gene Keady’s classic combover cut. Painter seems to be taking it in fun to start with, but before long he gets agitated as Iowa State gets off to an early 7 point lead. At halftime the score stands 34-29 ISU, and as Painter leaves the floor he tells the Iowa State students that the signs had better be gone before they come back on the floor.
Early on in the second half, the students are really razzing Painter. Rahshon Clark gets a steal and throws down a highlight reel dunk on the break to put the Clones up by 9, and Painter hops the row of seats and shreds the first sign he can get to. As he goes for another, the student resists and Painter shoves him and tears up the second poster. Finally he is restrained by security and is forced to go down to the locker room for the remainder of the game. After the distraction, Purdue can never regain their focus as ISU keeps it near double digits. Final score: Cyclones 69 Boilermakers 61
Well, there you have it Cyclone fans. Another wild one for Iowa State, but I think we’re good for the win, followed by a tight victory over Alabama if I had to guess. So open up your pocketbooks and let it all ride on the Clones, after all how often do we get to play in Vegas?
**Note, the picture of Painter was borrowed from News, Travel, Weather, Entertainment, Sports, Technology, U.S. & World - USATODAY.com, while the Keady shot was from Web en construcción. No coaches were harmed in the creation of this picture.
