Looking at the top 6 of the top 15 freshman stats. WOW!!! three of them are on the team and the other three are pretty good company. Hopefully we have the same discussion about sophomores next year.

The NBA efficiency rating is very basic and certainly not a perfect measure, but it's also easy. If anyone wants to see a different measure, let me know.

Thank you - fun to review! These efficiency rating numbers would appear to support my theory, namely Emily has played with more people on your lists than Nikki did.

I suppose that's open to interpretation, as in who made who? Did Ashley & Audi make Emily or did Emily make Ashley & Audi?

If you use the basic NBA player efficiency rating (pt + reb + ast + st + blk - missed FG - missed FT - to), here are Moody's rankings on her four teams at ISU as measured by efficiency per 40 minutes.

It boggles my mind that Joens and Bristow have such good ratings considering their limited playing time and production.

Since it's per 40 minutes I suppose in some ways it might be easier if your playing time is more limited because you are fresh when you are on the court. But on the flip side it's harder to get into a rhythm.

We’ve got down time for discussion until we have tournaments to entertain us. While Moody disparaged ISU after her career was over, she was an excellent player. One might argue her assist totals are more impressive based on who she shared the court with versus the parade of top 100 ranked recruits who’ve worked with Emily. Like everyone else, I was a big fan of Chelsea, Anna and Hailey, but are they as good as Ashley, Lexi, Addy, Audi, etc. ? I’m actually torn on this one but admit I’m not as down on Moody as others. Curious what others think…
I'd take Chelsie over Lexi ( personal preference no stat ck) Moody was a hell of a player but she burnt her bridges. I'm not very forgiving that way. I'll be glad when she's off the top of the list.
Actually saw her before a Baylor ISU mbb game down there at a alumni gathering it was before she went scorched earth.

Just for the heck of it, here are ISU's top 20 all time single-season leaders in eff/40 (again, limited to at least 400 min played) going back to 80-81 when minutes were first tracked. No surprise at the top.

Well I admit I didn't pay attention in 86 and 83 but the rest I all watched play. 83 I was mbb only ( long live Johnny!) 86 busy chasing my 1st wife and living out of state plus those teams I just didn't pay attention to, my attention to ISU WBB did not start till the Fennelly era.

Agree…but it makes for a faulty comparison to players who do play 30+ minutes.

Finally updated with Saturday's game, likely the first of two updates I'll make today.

Biggest news, of course: Ryan is now ISU's all-time assist leader! No asterisk -- she did it in four years. Now the big question is whether she can hit 1000 assists.
Thank you! I love looking at the list as it reminds me of my all time favorite, Stacy Frese, although Audi and Addy may be contenders.

Finally updated with Saturday's game, likely the first of two updates I'll make today.
And the second update is up with the OU results. Here are a bunch of observations:
  • Audi is now 100 points ahead of Megan Taylor in freshman scoring, which is mind-boggling when you consider Taylor is 52 points ahead of third place.
  • Addy is 4 points away from that third place position. If ISU wins a couple in the NCAA Tournament, she has a shot at Taylor.
  • Addy is now top 10 in freshman 3pt made -- a four-way tie for 7th.
  • Audi is 3 away from the freshman record in FT made, held by Jayme Olson.
  • Addy is 18 rebounds away from Taylor's freshman total rebound record.
  • Addy is 15 assists away from Emily Ryan's freshman total assist record.
  • Addy is practically tied with Olson for 4th place in freshman ppg.
  • Addy has joined Arianna on the freshman 3pt % top 10.
  • Audi is only 11 points from the single season ISU top 10 in points. She's 45 points from 7th place, which is a reasonable target.
  • Despite her limited minutes early in the season, Emily is 5th in single season assists per game. She actually has more assists per game than she did last season.
  • Emily is 35 points from the top 20 in career points at ISU.
  • Emily continues to be #1 in career assists at ISU. I'll continue to monitor that situation to see if it changes.
  • As I mentioned in the game thread, Emily is incredibly one block away from the top 10 in career blocks at ISU, which probably says as much about ISU's not-so-rich tradition of shot-blockers than her own prowess. Still, that's crazy for a 5'11" point guard.
  • Emily is currently #9 in career steals.
  • Addy has snuck into the career top 10 in 3pt %. Arianna would be there but she is 10 attempts away from qualifying.
  • Emily's career FT% keeps sneaking upward. She's still #2 behind Kelsey Bolte, but she's slowly catching up.

Updated with the results vs Texas.
  • Barring a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Addy doesn't have a good shot at Taylor for #2 in freshman scoring anymore. She needs 54 points to tie Taylor.
  • Audi is now tied with Olson in freshman FTM.
  • Addy is now 13 behind Taylor in freshman total rebounds.
  • Addy is now 13 behind Ryan in freshman total assists.
  • Audi has cracked the top 10 in single season points.
  • Emily got her block, which puts her tied for #10 in career blocks.

I've been on vacation the past week so the final updates have been delayed, but they are up now.

Career notes:
  • Belanger ends her short ISU career as #10 on the career 3pt% list
  • Ryan keeps creeping up toward #1 on the career ft% list. It'll be hard to catch Bolte, but she'll have a shot next season.
  • Ryan is up to #19 on the career points list. Barring injury, she should end her career in the top 10.
  • For a season where we were uncertain whether Ryan would catch Moody on career assists, she ended up in first by 37. Barring injury, she should be able to get to 1000 next year.
  • Ryan is #10 in career blocks. She will likely end up top 5 after next season.
  • Ryan is #9 in career steals. She has a real shot at #2 next season and an outside shot at #1.
  • Ryan is #9 in career minutes. She will easily become #2, only behind fellow 5-year player Ashley Joens.
Single-season notes:
  • Crooks is #8 in single-season ppg, only behind Welle, Wilson, Carleton, and Ash Joens x4.
  • Crooks just missed the top 10 in single-season fg%
  • Ryan is #5 in single-season ft%
  • Brown is #7 in single-season defensive rebounds per game
  • Ryan is #4 in single-season assists per game
  • Crooks is #6 in single-season points, only behind Welle, Carleton, and Ash Joens x3
  • Crooks broke Carleton's single-season fgm record
  • Brown is #6 in single season defensive rebounds
  • Brown is #14 in single season total rebounds
  • Brown is #5 in freshman mpg
Freshman notes:
  • Crooks smashed the freshman ppg record by over 4 ppg, and Brown is #5
  • Crooks is #3 in freshman fg%, and Brown is #8
  • Jackson is #5 in freshman 3pt%
  • Crooks is #6 in freshman offensive rebounds per game
  • Brown broke the freshman defensive rebounds per game record, and Crooks is #3
  • Brown just missed breaking Taylor's freshman rpg record, and Crooks is #4
  • Brown is #2 in freshman apg
  • Crooks smashed the freshman points record by 175, and Brown is #3
  • Crooks smashed the freshman fgm record by 95, and Brown managed to grab #2
  • Crooks is #1 in freshman fga, and Brown is #3
  • Brown is #7 in freshman 3fg
  • Brown is #9 in freshman 3fga
  • Crooks is #1 in freshman ftm and fta
  • Crooks is #5 in freshman oreb
  • Brown is #1 in freshman dreb, and Crooks is #3
  • Brown just missed breaking Taylor's freshman rebound record by 1, and Crooks is #3.
  • Brown was close to breaking Ryan's freshman assist record
  • Brown is #4 in freshman minutes played

Thank you so much for your work in tracking records. It's a highlight for me each season--seeing all those familiar names from past years and recognizing all that has been accomplished by this year's team. So satisfying!

ABSOLUTELY appreciate your hard work doing the stats. Before you came along, I had to do all the hard work myself, and it wasn't anywhere near as complete. Thanks, Red!
