It's all political. The push for "equality" has overtaken common sense in many ways.

Those of us who have been around a long time have already seen this experiment tried, and have seen it fail terribly.
Also, if I wanted to, in person, watch ISU wbb in the first game/round AND watch ISU mbb if their last season game is at home, I couldn't. Last mbb game is first Sat of wbb tournament.

I wouldn't be surprised if Joe Smith comes down and says it's ok to play games.
Nobody makes money like LDS.

I would hope that Jamie and Bill fought to keep the men and women’s tournaments at the same time. My impression is that the other schools don’t care that this will have less fans at the games because they didn’t have fans come to the women’s tournament anyway
I swear I heard or read this, but I think ISU was the only school who vote against the change.

Those games in Dallas and OKC (Chesapeake Arena) were sad, seeing all the empty seats.
OKC was a great venue for the tournament with their equivalent of the Power and Light right next to it. Dallas was an abysmal location with nothing nearby and a stadium designed like Wells Fargo where your knees run into the back of the chair in front of you. And yes, the place looked empty. I suspect moving to TMobile will be the same...Especially when you consider all those that choose to go to the men's tourney won’t be there. The separation of the two is a huge mistake IMO.

Here's an idea: play both Women's and Men's on the same set of days, putting more games on each day.

Tuesday, March 12
Women's Game 1: No. 12 Seed vs. No. 13 Seed, 1 p.m.
Women's Game 2: No. 11 Seed vs. No. 14 Seed, 3:30 p.m.
Men's Game 1: No. 12 Seed vs. No. 13 Seed, 6 p.m.
Men's Game 2: No. 11 Seed vs. No. 14 Seed, 8:30 p.m.

Wednesday, March 13
Women's Game 3: No. 5 Seed vs. Game 1 Winner, 11:30 a.m.
Women's Game 4: No. 8 Seed vs. No. 9 Seed, 2 p.m.
Women's Game 5: No. 7 Seed vs. #10 Seed, 6 p.m.
Women's Game 6: No. 6 Seed vs. Winner Game 2, 8:30 p.m.

Thursday, March 14
Men's Game 3: No. 5 Seed vs. Game 1 Winner, 11:30 a.m.
Men's Game 4: No. 8 Seed vs. No. 9 Seed, 2 p.m.
Men's Game 5: No. 7 Seed vs. #10 Seed, 6 p.m.
Men's Game 6: No. 6 Seed vs. Winner Game 2, 8:30 p.m.

Friday, March 15
Women's Game 7: No. 4 Seed vs. Winner Game 3, 11:30 a.m.
Women's Game 8: No. 1 Seed vs. Winner Game 4, 2 p.m.
Women's Game 9: No. 2 Seed vs. Winner Game 5, 6 p.m.
Women's Game 10: No. 3 Seed vs. Winner Game 6, 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, March 16
Men's Game 7: No. 4 Seed vs. Winner Game 3, 11:30 a.m.
Men's Game 8: No. 1 Seed vs. Winner Game 4, 2 p.m.
Men's Game 9: No. 2 Seed vs. Winner Game 5, 6 p.m.
Men's Game 10: No. 3 Seed vs. Winner Game 6, 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, March 17
Women's Game 11: Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8, 11:30 a.m.
Women's Game 12: Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 10, 2 p.m.
Men's Game 11: Winner Game 7 vs. Winner Game 8, 6 p.m.
Men's Game 12: Winner Game 9 vs. Winner Game 10, 8:30 p.m.

Monday, March 18
Women's Game 13: Winner Game 11 vs. Winner Game 12, 5 p.m.
Men's Game 13: Winner Game 11 vs. Winner Game 12, 7:30 p.m.

Note: I'm focusing more on the concept of a combined tournament, not specific days such as finishing on a weekday, and I'm ignoring the dilemma of BYU playing on Sunday. Just trying to show what a combined tournament in one venue could look like.

OKC was great when the women played in the smaller arena (Cox Convention Center). It was like Municipal from a capacity standpoint.

I'm not excited at all about the extra two days. This draws it out so long that it's hard to justify taking it all in even from an expense standpoint. I suspect the first play-in day will have such a sparse crowd it won't even make enough to pay the "seat cops" salaries.

I’m disappointed in the change, but I think the increased number of schools plays into it as well. After this season, it would be 32 men’s & Womens teams to put up around town.

Still, in Kansas City that’s a weak argument. The NAIA brings in 32 teams every year for their tournament a week or two after the Big 12.
