The fight for 2nd - 10th will be crazy. Every match is going to matter. Our history has been to underperform at Nats but this team seems different.
I know the new rules impact everyone but it also feels like this team has considerably more bonus point potential as well.

Is that true RE our history? Looks like a bit of a mixed bag. Actually if you tally up the plus and minus from our seeds last year, it’s exactly zero. Kind of crazy.

Redding - 14 - R12 - overperform +2
Swiderski - 24 - R12 - overperform +13
Johnson - 5 - R24 - underperform -19
Kraisser - 25 - R12 - overperform +13
Carr - 1 - 2nd - underperform -1
Coleman - 5 - 5th - wash
Bastida - 13 - R16 - underperform -3
Schuyler - 8 - R12 - underperform -4

The backside pins could be a real thing. Some guy that gets knocked out of the front and has MJ on short rest with little time to prep or no film is gonna have a nightmare on his hands. Even if you get a lead on him, MJ can full funkcity then and end you in a second.

I love his recent success but man just please stay in good position with a big lead, not too much to ask

So, would everyone be happy with a top 10 finish at nationals? Or would anything below 5 be a letdown?

I think this is a difficult year to define success by team tournament placing. The gap from 2-10 could realistically be very small, maybe even down to 11th or 12th.

Personally, I just want to see our guys from 133-157 wrestle to their full potential, which is asking a lot because I think all of them are AA-caliber guys. Carr winning would certainly make a huge difference, as would Bastida making the finals. If Feldkamp is healthy (sounds like he will be) that's another guy who should be on the podium.

All of that will not happen, NCAAs are just too tough and unpredictable, but if we mostly take care of business, top 5 or a trophy is achievable.

Reading back now, I probably could've saved all of that and just said "the blood round probably determines if it's a good team tournament for us."

Top two at Big 12s is a must along with being top 10 at NCAAs. I would be ecstatic to finish top 5 in KC. It is time to take the next step.
