So in the interview, Zadick says the last time we knocked off a defending NCAA champ was 2008, Zabriskie over Ellis of Mizz.

When Goettl beat Maple of OU, I know Maple was ranked #1, but must not have been defending national champ?

Goettl beat Maple in Jan. 2012. Maple won NCAA in 2013.

Zabriskie's win over Ellis was in 2010. Guessing Zadick didn't know the exact date.
