AMES, Iowa – Iowa State forward Amanda Zimmerman was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon. Zimmerman had the biggest game of her young career in ISU’s overtime win at Texas on Saturday.

The Huxley, Iowa, native finished with a career-high 14 points, going 6-for-9 from the field and 1-for-1 from beyond the arc against the Longhorns. She also pulled down five rebounds, posted an assist, a blocked shot and did not commit a turnover.

Iowa State moved into the Associated Press Top 25 on Monday, jumping to No. 22 after their wins against Kansas and at No. 20 Texas. ISU has received votes for the last six weeks in the AP Poll. The Cyclones were ranked 21st in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ poll last week. This week’s Top 25 will be released on Tuesday.
