Iowa State Daily: Sports - Cyclone volleyball goes 4-0 in full weekendQuote:
"We're looking at [redshirting Willms]," Johnson-Lynch said. "With Hockaday going out it makes it a little more difficult, but we're certainly looking at it and discussing it."
according to this thread from earlier this week, she is redshirting.

Yes - talked with her club coach last night and he said it was a mutual decision by her and the coaches.
Good for her. She'd likely see very little time this season - no use burning the eligibility.
Christy just talked to our library group on campus yesterday and someone asked her about her thoughts for next season; she didn't mention anyone leaving the program, but she did mention that that she is always wrong about the players she thinks will be good on the team and the ones she doesn't think will be good: she said it's always the reverse.
Having said that she is very optimistic about the next season, and the recruits coming in. (Apparently, the class is the highest ranked Christy has brought into Iowa State.) She went on to say, that while Iowa State will hardly ever snag the star volleyball players, she is always amazed at how the players that do come to Iowa State, buying into the program and always overachieve.
She said she didn't have high hopes that we would even make it the NCAA this past year, so that really pleased her at how well they performed.
Very well spoken, honest coach, and I recommend anyone who has a chance to listen to her speak to go. I know I came out of the presentation impressed.
(I didn't mean to high-jack the thread, so return as you were.)
Wilms is also a very good high jumper. Could be she is going to jump winter and spring. At worst i would suspect she simply decided she likes jumping more.
She was part of the track team last year and listed on the roster this year.

She was a track phenom in HS. I think alot of people were surprised she went the volleyball route. With the OH we are bringing in from W-SR, we probably don't need her as much.
I disagree. We do need her. We only have one proven OH. Jenson is a big loss to the team. Not sure that Hockaday is up to the task.
Willms is very talented but i didn't think she was going to be a strong D1 player in volleyball. Most club coaches believed that too in HS. Kind of a tweener - not tall and strong enough for the front and not quick/explosive to play in the back row.
Speaking of the OH, I was at a boy's high school basketball tournament in the KC area this past week, and a guy who had been sitting a little ways down from me came walking by as he moving to a different area to watch his son in the next game. He saw the ISU logo on my jacket and asked if I was from Iowa and if I went to Iowa State. I told him yes on both counts. He told me he had a daughter going to school there, so being polite, I asked what her name was. He said Victoria Hurtt. My eyes got big and I let him know that I knew exactly who she was, and how much I loved watching her play this past season.
BTW, her brother is 6'6" and plays BB for her alma mater, O'Hara High School in KC.
Hannah is going to just do track in the future.
Too bad, but that opens up a scholarship, doesn't it? I thought at least one recruit was walking on because she wanted to be here. Maybe it goes there.
