Iowa State at Baylor
Again, I have something else going on. I will be on pins and needles despite not being able to follow this game. This is a really big one. As I have said before, Baylor isn't my favorite opponent. Didn't that wild man they had in men's basketball graduate? He was dangerous.

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
This is no gimme. Baylor beat KU down there a week or so ago. They are probably on the bubble for the tournament, and it is senior day. The ladies better be ready for Baylor's best shot. With Minnesota beating NU last night, it's only getting tougher to get to the top 16 RPI to get to open at home. Looks like we might have to win out, including a win over Texas.

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
They beat Baylor three straight! I am calling them "they" now because someone else on another thread didn't like my use of personal pronouns. The freshman have really been tough. Generally the team is playing at a really high level lately and I think Landwehr is doing an outstanding job distributing the ball. Kristen Hahn is doing a great job playing defense. In some ways this is our most amazing victory this year because this team just knocked off Kansas here, and we beat them three straight. For those that don't understand how important this is, we are solidly in second place in the Big 12. I have confidence that the Texas game is going to be electric.

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
I am a little disgusted, something happens in football and the whole world completely forgets that we had a tremendously big win in volleyball today. I am happy for football, but we can't go to the final four in football.

I guess I didn't see it as that big of a game. We should have swept them and we did. The big game will be against Texas. And more people care about football, and always will. That's just the way it is. How closely did you follow the women's cross country team as they went for the NCAA championship yesterday?

I for one was constantly checking my phone App for the results, as I was at a family day of my daughter's sorority (at Missouri State).

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
I'm just saying it's silly to me to get mad at people who care more about other sports than the one that you care about. I love our volleyball team but I realize that there are just a lot more football/basketball fans. That's just how it is and I don't get mad about it. I know that I never pay attention to some of the other sports we have - even when we are doing well in them. We have a great fanbase for our volleyball team - there was a lot of excitement after the win over Nebraska, and there will be if we can take down Texas, too.

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
and I think Hahn has another great shot at the Defensive award - she had 28 digs yesterday for a 9.3/set average (!) and I would not be surprised if Malloy got Rookie of the week. She has been fantastic the last couple weeks.

I have to admit, I am bored to death by cross country and track is close. This was not going to be an easy game. They just beat Kansas at home. Anyway, while I hoped and expected the Cyclones to win that football game, and listened to it on the radio, I have just as much interest in volleyball as I have in football. I am feeling better about it now because I have basketball games to watch to divert my attention. I think this team would have lost this match earlier in the year. I could be wrong.

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
If we had been playing Baylor back around the time we were losing matches we had no business losing, yes I would have been worried. But not after the really solid games against Okie and Kstate. Putting Malloy in really clicked and Texas became the only "should be" difficult game left on the schedule to me.
And hey, just like you and I don't really care about some sports...there are people who feel that way about volleyball. They are crazy but you'll drive yourself batty being upset when they don't care about vball. Our fanbase will continue to grow as we continue to have a top program. It's much easier to be excited about how we're doing than care what those silly non-vb fans are watching.
......now, someone tell me how I will get to watch this Texas game when I'm supposed to be out at an event for my husband's family on Saturday:( They are some of those crazy non-ISU vb fans who don't understand how big this is! :(

Re: Iowa State at Baylor
I've got something going on then also. I think I may try to call it off. I am going to at least test the waters to see if I can call it off. Thanks for alerting me, so I can start with this early.
