Re: ***Official NCAA tournament thread***
Granted, I don't watch a ton of volleyball, but it seems that ISU got about 3-4 favorable calls in the 5th set. At least I couldn't tell what UNC did wrong to give ISU the point. Whatever the case, I'm happy ISU is moving on.

Damn, that was a close one. At times each team looked dominant. Survival though. Hopefully we are saving out best play for the Sweet Sixteen.

These two teams should have been easy sweeps, period.

Made up for the two killer bad calls onus late in Game 3 that changed the outcome of that game. Overall the ref on the stand was bad both ways.

That's why it's really baffling: we basically are riding 10-game winning streak against excellent teams (esp Texas) and we couldn't easily dispose of the Mastodons. UNC is a little bit different since they have higher RPI than us.

For anyone who thought we should have walked all over this team, they are a Top 25 team with a better RPI than ours.

Re: ***Official NCAA tournament thread***
The NCAA tourney is a whole different monster than playing conference ball...how much tape have we watched on UNC or IPFW? very little...while we didn't execute as well as we should have, these close matches happen all over the tourney this early.

And while we did not play well against IPFW, the Tarheels are for real.
To think they were a walkover shows you have not read the standings or the RPIs. Sorry. Don't mean to be belligerent but they were a legit team. Combine this with the pressure the girls were under and voila, what you see is not unexpected.
We really owe a huge amount to Alison Landwehr; she was there through good and bad streaks. We also missed Jamie in the middle, although Matlock played some pretty good minutes in the middle. Nice to see the Knuths out there; Jr looks like she could develop into a force in the future.
But, we certainly do need to play better against Stanford. I think they are the team to beat this year - but I've been wrong before.

All-American players on the team right now? You take away that Syracuse loss and I would assume we are higher RPI. This team has been up and down throughout the year and I was hoping we'd stay up for the tourney. UNC really didn't impress me last night so I was surprised how tough they were. Hopefully we come up with something for Stanford.

We will need to play crazy good to beat Stanford. And I am incredibly excited for Knuth next year. We can disagree, but I watched UNC last night and was just not impressed. I was actually more afraid of Cal due to the block they had going in set 4. Not that UNC was ******, but we just beat the #3 team in the nation. We *should* be able to take a team like UNC without this much trouble. I really think Matlock will get a tourney player nod out of these two games. She hit over .500 last night and was high player tonight, too.

I don't know that I want to watch! Especially after seeing how easily Nebby, Texas (well, four sets) and PSU killed their opponents. PSU had like a 25-4 set!
