CJL said in after game comments that it was to be expected that an off night would occur after the recent high level of play. She was glad it happened now rather than later and hoped to play well next match.

Walked in sad and angry. Thought it was going to stay that way without plans for tomorrow.

Thankfully, the team we're used to seeing came back to visit us, and we move on.

Interesting to see the entire season play out in one match like that. I don't want to be that interested again.

Interesting dynamics after game 3. Hahn seemed to lead the team discussion - glad she's here - the posture and attitude of both teams changed dramatically and the outcome was all but determined.

agreed! I am quite ok with watching us boringly sweep one team after the next. Although I can only realistically see that happening for tomorrow's match. I can't imagine a game against Standford/UCLA being a. boring or b. a sweep for us.

This was a funny thread to read for the first time after the game was over. After the third match, the girls were dancing in the huddle. The pep band had a good beat, and some of the volleyballers decided it was time to have some fun. So I figured if they aren't nervous, why should I be? For those of you that don't like the band you should be ashamed of yourselves. They helped pull us through this match. Now on to the next match. Go Cyclones!

Hockaday played great tonight, when some other players were having trouble. Bizarre match.

I was really happy for Hock, she did great. I suspect we'll see her again tomorrow. She's an experienced tournament player.

I'm fine with being interested, just not interested from seeing the inconsistent, early season team.

I am not sure it matters what we are interested in or what we want. We take what we get, and we got the win. We just have to continue on and believe in tomorrow. I think we are going to be good tomorrow. No pressure.

    Re: ***Official NCAA tournament thread***

Unbelievable how badly we played in the sets we lost (and still barely lost those sets). I'm happy they pulled it together in the final two sets and put them away. Hate to give false hope to opposing fans, but that's exactly what happened last night. They were fired up when IPFW took a 2-1 lead, but sat on their hands when they weren't winning - a lot like hok fans, in my observation.

They simply have to play better tonight. Neither UNC nor Cal was particularly impressive last night, but if we play the way we did against the Mastodons in sets two and three, we'll get swept easily. Cal could have very easily been our second round opponent had they not repeatedly shot themselves in the foot over the course of the entire match. Give credit to the Bears for coming back from 9-2 down in the first set to tie it late and make it competitive. UNC will be ready for us. Hope we are (more) ready for them.
All people who make sweepingly generalized, stupid, uninformed comments are idiots.

    (maybe)

In the sets that IPFW lost, what was there for their fans to cheer for? They were getting dominated.
