2014 Volleyball Recruits

Since we now know our 2013 class, lets see what will get for 2014. I just found one; Alexis Conaway from MOC-Floyd Valley is a 6' outside. And I think she was recently named the Iowa Gatorade Player of the year....way to keep the in-state talent

Thanks for the link. Another name in the article caught my eye? Mt. Vernon libero Marissa Stark, the sister of Ali Stark who plays for Illinois. Since she's a senior, Doesn't look like an ISU recruit, but with Hahn graduating next year, and no DS/L in the 2013 class, I would think a back row player woul be a priority in the 2014 class. Not that the cupboard will be bare with Caitlin Nolan a highly rated libero in her own right, but I don't know if Bria Rassmussen and/or Taylor Goetz will step in.

Highly doubtful on Goetz. Not sure about Bria? I would imagine we'd go after a high-ranking libero, and would have a great chance after Mass and Hahn. Either Joe or Christy had talked about wanting great liberos to think of ISU as a libero school and want to come here.

Conaway recorded 489 kills, 257 digs, 79 blocks and 51 service aces while posting a hitting percentage of .435.:jiggy:

Looks like the beginnings of another great recruiting class!

Conaway just put up a double-double (17 pts, 11 reb) in MOC-FV's 51-30 state quarterfinal win over Mid-Prairie.

She's 3rd in Class 3A in scoring (18+ ppg) and also averages just under 8 rpg.

Conaway is the 2013 Drake Relays high jump champ (5'8"). 2nd place was 5'5".

Mikaela Foecke, a sophomore from West Point, Iowa, just committed to Nebraska. She plays at Holy Trinity in Fort Madison.

Hate to see a top-notch in-state player leave the state to play somewhere else. She is 6-3 and had offers from us, Iowa and Minnesota as well.

I've seen Marissa Stark play a few times and Ali really was on a different level than her sister. I don't consider Marissa to be a D1 player, but who knows.

Conaway won the 3A high jump tonight and finished 3rd in the 400.
