I highly doubt we will beat Nebraska in 3rd round in Omaha with their home court advantage :( I really hope UNI beats Nebraska so we don't have to play the Nebbies.

Rankings don't mean much now, with the big show starting this weekend, but talk about a disconnect here: Hawaii ranked third on the AVCA poll, but seeded 12th in the NCAA tournament.

And on then on the flip side, the committee seeds Florida State third overall (because of their RPI), but the AVCA coaches have them ranked 12th.

Looks to me like the NCAA committee looks a lot at RPI and data, but doesn't go to many VB matches like the coaches do. Guess we'll see how credible things like the RPI are...

AVCA is independent. Not unlike the various media polls in Baskeball. In the end, the NCAA tourney committee will do what they will, regardless.

Oh, now I understand why the NCAA doesn't factor in the AVCA poll at all in tournament selection: they don't want to be exposed by people that actually know what the hell they are talking about. Gotcha. Makes sense to me.

Yeah that seemed weird to me too! The weirdest thing is that Iowa State, Nebraska and Texas - are all in the same region!!!

Don't worry folks. I sent each member of the NCAA VB selection committee an email of what I thought about them. Don't worry...I did not indicate my affiliation. I am certain my comments will be heard and addressed immediately.

Are you sure that 7 doesn't mean we were rated 7th at the time the bracket was created. Who is the number 1 seed in our region, if Texas is 2

No, Texas is 2 overall, and 1 in our region.
We are 7 overall, and 2 in our region.

There's no 1-4 per region, just 1-16 for the entire bracket. So it stands to reason, or be interpreted, that 1-4 are the normal 1 seeds for each region, 5-8 the 2's, etc.

So Texas is the 2nd seed overall, but the top seed in the Omaha region. We're #7 overall, but the 2 seed in our region, NU is 10th and 3rd in Omaha.

There's no real reason why the committee wouldn't/couldn't take the weekend results (that moved Illinois and Washington out of the top 6, and ISU up to 5th) in their seedings.

That would assume logic on someone's part.
