GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
With Nebraska out of the way, ISU women should be making it to NCAA tourney each year. UT is good, but Nebraska has been the rival. Good times!!!

Re: GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
well we'd make the NCAA's regardless but it might be a little easier to win a Big 12 title now...

Re: GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
Yeah, id bet we still schedule them. We both bring a ton of fans to each others arenas.

Re: GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
Out conference games are tough enough. I WOULD NOT play Nebraska for our non conference games. Why not Stanford for that matter? Why Nebbie?

We would make the tournament regardless... it's certainly a bit easier to win the conference title, though.

Re: GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
Losing Nebby from the conference actually hurts our RPI. Regardless of UT and Nebby, if we would have continued to finish in the top 3 of the old B12 we would be in the NCAA tourney. This move does nothing more than set up NCAA regional battles with Nebby year after year since we are in different conferences (won't be a fluke like it was last year), and could hurt our recruiting in NE since we aren't playing them twice a year.

Uh, pretty sure coach CJL considers the loss of Nebraska a loss for the Big 12. They add so much in prestige and fan support. It is NOT a good thing for our volleyball program.

Re: GREAT DAY/ERA for ISU Women's Volleyball
Our volleyball program is at a place where we should want to play the best, not hide from them.

If you want to win national champioships, you have to play the best. Nebbie has turned into a solid rivalry, and if you lose it doesn't hurt you. If we had the chance to play Stanford, I would. Playing a cupcake schedule does you absolutely no good come tourney time, and majorly impacts your national seeding.

I can't remember which thread it was in, but someone said along the lines of it being better for the football team to play and struggle against the best competition than for them to play lesser competition and dominate. Why wouldn't it be true for volleyball as well? Iowa State might just be the best volleyball program in the conference now, but doesn't not playing Nebraska kind of take away from that achievement?

Several of the team is from Nebraska.
Omaha/NE remains a critical recruiting hotbed for CJL.
To be the best, you have to beat the best.

Dear Iowa State,
We're still here and ready to continue competing for a conference Title.

Yep, it's like winning the Big XII MBB tourney after KU's bus crashed on the way.
