WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
My knowledge of Iowa State WBB players transferring in from CC or JC, only to become a top player, is insufficient to offer an opinion to an acquaintance.
My friend and Marquette fan quipped, "Iowa State got a few transfers." Tyrus McGee's latest commit to ISU's MBB clicked in my mind. But no! Andi Oordt a transfer from Kirkwood, and Waukee H.S. grad, to Marguette's WBB was on his.
A big Marquette Men's Hoops fan, he's developing an interest in the WBB game due to UCONN, The Big East and the rise of WBB in general. His curiosity is whether women transfers are more-or-less stop gap or actually can be stars.
I told him I couldn't offer an opinion. I ask if any of you want to give me a clue.

Off the top of my head, Stacy Frese, Anne O'Neil, and Katie Robinette were very helpful for our program.

Re: WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
Tocarra Ross would have been good if she hadn't gotten hurt at the beginning of her original senior year.

Re: WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
Toccara Ross and Desiree Francis. Francis is the best juco in the Fennelly era.

Denae Stuckey. "Star" might not be the right word, but she was a very important player.

Transfers who were all-big 12 at ISU in the Fennelly Era:
Stacy Frese: 1st Team 1998, 1999, 2000
Desiree Francis: HM 1999, 3rd Team 2000
Anne O'Neil: HM 2004, 1st Team 2005
Katie Robinette: 2nd Team 2005
Francis and Frese were both named Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
2003 was the first year the Big 12 honored 10 1st team and 5 2nd team. Prior to that, it was 5 1st, 5 2nd, 5 3rd. Frese was a 3-time first-teamer when there were only 5 players honored. She needs her number raised.

Re: WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
Back to the original question, juco players can be very good in WBB. ISU's best transfers (Frese, O'Neil, Robinette) transferred from 4-year schools, but ISU has had productive juco players as well.

More transfers: Mary Cofield came from St. Ambrose and was pretty good at times. Gintare Cipinyte (JUCO) didn't do a lot her junior season but was a pretty solid backup for Welle when she was a senior.

Don't forget Nina Smith
“I’m just glad I have Homan as my bodyguard,” Eustachy joked. “If I ever make it real big and get to drive a limo everyday, he’ll be driving it. I thought he came off the bench like somebody was stealing his cow or something.” http://blogs.dmjuice.com/?cat=43 -

"There are five real good recruits in the state. We got three of them. One couldn’t get into school, and the other went to (the University of) Iowa...which is about the same thing." - Coach Johnny Orr -
Re: WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
There was also the Juco post from Nebraska a few years ago whose name isn't coming to me right now. She was decent her jr year, but didn't stick around for her sr year.
edit - Looked it up and Melanie Bremmer was who I was thinking of and it was more like 10 years ago.

Re: WBB Transfers that became ISU Stars?
Brit Lang was easily the hottest transfer.
