Women stay in rankings
I was worried that with two close loses, the Sisters might drop out of the rankings. The Feb 14 rankings have the ladies at #20. This shows a great deal of respect for the program and the two losses being on the road.
Side note - Iowa is sitting on the edge at essentially #26.
Oklahoma dropped to #14 after getting pasted by ATM. So far, we are the only team to stay close with ATM other than Baylor.
West Virgina has hit a tough road in their conference. They've now dropped to #21.

Re: Women stay in rankings
We should stay in the rankings, the Big XII has to be the premiere conference this year in women's basketball. We are sitting in 5th place but have some quality losses.

Re: Women stay in rankings
I was surprised to see us move up in the AP. Didn't hurt looking good on National TV against another well-respected program yesterday though. I think I would have to agree with your posting elsewhere. We can play with anyone, and we can be beat by anyone. :-(
I actually think we can still finish in the top 4. I think one or two road game wins, and finishing our home games tough will put us there. I like our schedule better than anyone else's quite frankly. The Mizzou game will be tougher than many think though.
ISU has @TTU, CU, Texas, @KSU, KU, and @MU to finish.
KSU has CU, @ NU, @A&M, Baylor, ISU, and @KU to finish.
Texas still has Nebraska, @ OU, AM, @ISU, TTU, and @ OSU to finish the season.
TTU, their schedule is brutal, I think they are out of the discussion for 4th seed. They have @A&M, Baylor, OU, ISU, OSU, and @Texas left. Though 4 of the six are home games. What concerns me about our game @TTU this week, is we are a must win game for them to have any shot of dancing.

maybe a fun time for Mreds bracket generator. mred's Big 12 Tournament Bracket Generator -
Re: Women stay in rankings
by doing MRed's bracket generator, I think we will need a win at KSU, or at TTU to get the 4th seed as KSU will have a better North division record than us.

Surprising to see EIU out of the rankings

Re: Women stay in rankings
The way the ladies have played lately I'm not sure they belong in the top 25 but our reputation definitely has helped them stay in it. I know Bill has said more than once he doesn't believe this is a top 25 team right now and at times they definitely don't play like it.
The offense is tough to watch at times, if a team does a good job on Bolte it's hit or miss if anyone steps up to help pick up the slack. Prins is the most frustrating, she fails to use her 6'7" size to her advantage. Against KSU she had that one post up that she turned around, tried to pump fake then tried to pass out of a trap and got called for 3 seconds and Bill was all over her about it because she just needs to shoot that and hope for a foul. Poppens has been playing out of her mind defensively lately. If there is a rebound or loose ball to be had you can bet she is going after it at all costs. But back to the offense, Christopherson has shown flashes of being that low post threat but disappears in some games, Mansfield tries her best to get to the basket but can't finish a lot of times, and Schroll is frustrating because she has the athleticism to beat her defender off the dribble and take it to the hoop but a lot of times is hesistant to do that, especially if she's already missed a few jumpers.
I think the team is improving but they sure miss Lacey's ability to create a shot in tight spots.

Re: Women stay in rankings
In place of Lauren overpenetrating (getting in too deeply) on the dribble, you can penetrate with a pass. Our high post-low post setup should and sometimes does replace the penetration by short guards, but yesterday Hallie as the high post passer missed two or three passes into the low post. And then we seemed to give up on it. Too bad because we need that kind of play more often, imho.

Re: Women stay in rankings
I was also quite surprised that we did not go down in the rankings, but I guess the voters do respect the program and tight losses on the road. I'm not complaining, I think it's great! And we do still have the best chance of anybody at finishing #4 in the Big 12 based on remaining schedules. We have to win at least one of our upcoming games @ TTech and home vs. Texas. Win both and we're sitting pretty decent.
On a completely different note OU is trailing UConn 46-18 at halftime! whoa

Re: Women stay in rankings
Charlie Creme still has us as a #7 seed playing Purdue in the first round. Interestingly he has Iowa as a #5 seed but says they "are a prime example of a team with an inflated RPI." Texas is a #12 seed. Bracketology - Women's College Basketball Brackets and Predictions - ESPN -
Re: Women stay in rankings
I'm getting us as a 4 seed going into Kansas City playing either MU or KSU in the first game. Sounds like a great place to be. Unfortunately we are going to have to play Baylor to get to the title game.
