Christofferson Earns Freshman of the Week Accolades
I didn't see this posted yet... A nice honor for Hallie Christofferson, who definitely deserves it.
From the Iowa State Athletic Communications staff:
IRVING, Texas – Iowa State forward Hallie Christofferson has been named Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week after averaging 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Cyclones’ two games last week.
The Hamlin, Iowa native shot 71.4 percent (10-of-14) from the field and 75.0 percent (9-of-12) from the free throw line. She scored a career-high 21 points at Kansas and recorded the second double-digit rebounding effort of her career with 11 caroms against Kansas State.
Among Big 12 freshman she is fifth in scoring with 10.1 points per game and second in rebounding with 5.5 boards a game. She has scored in double-figures in four of the last five games and 12 times total this season.
Texas A&M’s Danielle Adams took home player of the week honors after averaging 35 points and 9.5 rebounds last week for the Aggies.
Iowa State will be back in action Wednesday at Texas Tech. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Congratulations Hallie! I'm sure this will be the first of many conference awards in her career.

I am surprised she hasn't won the award before this. However, there are some great freshmen playing this year.

Re: Christofferson Earns Freshman of the Week Accolades
what I value most in HC's play is that she is a complete player: rebounds, hits shots inside and out, defends, passes well, catches passes well (no small matter), and can handle the ball better than most her size. I forgot to add that she is a good free-throw shooter as well.

and as the ESPN analysis crew said, huge upside, needs some size, but a "future star" of the Big 12. Not too many posts shine as much as ours has in their freshman years.
