I'm not saying he is. I'm just pointing out the possibility.

The consensus seems to be that they'd love to get Fennelly but don't expect him to be a serious candidate due to cost.

Build a winning basketball team and the fans will come out in droves. As for the "wider recruiting base" that's a very true statement. Look at the UWGB women's program that nearly knocked off the Cyclones last year. All 5 of the starters on that team and the Sweet 16 team are from Northeast Wisconsin, let alone the rest of the state that is producing nationally recognized talent that would stay in state with the right person at the helm of the Badgers.
I don't think Fennelly or Bollant will leave to be honest, but the move of McGuff from Xavier is a real possibilty according to Women's basketball: Bollant interviews at UW, according to report | Green Bay Press Gazette | greenbaypressgazette.com
Anyone possibly think this could also be a way for his son to take over the program? I think he's ready and it would put both men in the HC spot at a major conference school. Just something to ponder.

Welcome to the silly season of college athletics.
FWIW this person claims Alvarez isn't going offer anything close to what Coach Fen is making now Twitter
@wbballhoopscoop Wis won't go much higher than 375. Not close to Fennelly money. They don't care about women's ball.

Based on what B12 coaches make 375k seems very low especially for a B10 school that gets piece of that B10 network money. Originally Posted by mred Baylor (Mulkey): 1.15M (estimated)

Does this settle it? From Twitter ISUCoachFen Bill Fennelly
AMAZED at the LACK of facts in some reporting-Maybe they should ask ME what I AM doing! NOT INTERVIEWING AT WISCONSIN-LOVE IOWA STATE!
If you are not following BF on Twitter, you should. He is one of the most interesting, and funniest coaches to follow. Also, if you are following him, I hope everyone replies to this tweet that we are glad he is staying.

It wouldve surprised most of us to see him go anyways (especially since UW wasnt really looking at a pay bump), but of course to play devil's advocate, even if he did talk to Wisconsin in any way, unless he took the job the official word is almost always going to be 'i have no idea what you're talking about, i love ISU'.

He is the Johnny Orr of isu womens hoops. If he finishes up his career here he should be similarly revered.

Re: Fennelly Rumored a Target Candidate for WI Job
It took Orr, Floyd and Eustacy together to equal what Bill Fennelly has done for women's basketball at ISU. He resurrected the program (like Orr), he won two tournament championships (vs one for Floyd) and he won a regular season conference championship (vs two for Eustacy). Comparing him only to Coach Orr is not generous enough in my view. Hopefully he will someday, not too soon, retire from ISU (like Orr).

Coaching jobs are about networking, and BF has two sons getting into the profession? I have no doubt he is pretty outgoing in accepting contact.
BF is great on twitter. Even as a coach, he is not afraid to say most anything at the behalf of ISU.
