Fennelly Rumored a Target Candidate for WI Job
Fennelly rumored a candidate for WI job.
Bollant has turned down major conference jobs before, so don't think that is as slam dunk as they think. Winona native, UW-GB coach Bollant cast as a top candidate for Wisconsin post
Salary issues could come into play with one of the other names that has surfaced - Iowa State's Bill Fennelly, who has a turned the Cyclones into an NCAA tournament mainstay while compiling a 354-160 record over 16 seasons in Ames. That success also has earned him a lifetime contract.
"He's already in a major conference and has had a lot of success," Hansen said. "It could be wishful thinking for them, but I think Wisconsin might have a wider recruiting footprint than Iowa State."

The guy is right when he says wishful thinking. Fennelly's family is in Ames, he's beloved in Ames and gets tremendous treatment from the university and he has a new practice facility. He's going nowhere.

Wisconsin certainly has "wider recruiting footprint" than ISU in general terms, but ISU is always among the top in fan support/attendence for WBB.
Does anybody know how "stongly" WI supports their WBB team?

That's what MU fans thought about Anderson, "I am going to retire here," said.

Yeah... I am sure their 6 trips to the NCAA Tournament since 1991 really opens the door to recruits throughout the country.

Does anybody know how "stongly" WI supports their WBB team? If that had a program as successful as ISU's, they would lead the nation in attendance. This state lives and breathes two things, Green Bay football, and anything Badger.

Everytime there is smoke there is fire on this stuff. We thought Cael was a lock to stay here and I even laughed when someone told me Penn State is interested.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.

Prior to Cael leaving I would have believed that. Now I wouldn't be surprised if anybody leaves anymore.

Re: Fennelly Rumored a Target Candidate for WI Job
Barry A. was not happy when Pollard hired several administrators away from Wisconsin. Alvarez prob wants to hire Fennelly away from ISU for a little backatcha stickittoya.

If he was going to leave it would have been when McCarney was shown the door. They were great friends and Fennelly wasn't happy about it (not to mention there wasn't much of a great relationship with Wayne Morgan). That's water under the bridge

A lifetime contract helps a guy get over stuff.
