ISU picked 5th in Big 12 by coaches
Iowa State women's basketball: Cyclones picked to finish fifth in Big 12 | The Des Moines Register | DesMoinesRegister.com
1. Baylor (9)
2. Texas A&M (1)
3. Texas
4. Oklahoma
5. IOWA STATE CYCLONES WOO HOO WE LOVE YOU!!!
6. Texas Tech
7. Kansas
8. Oklahoma State
9. Kansas State
10. Missouri
I think this team will over-perform and find this ranking probably realistic but disappointing. We return 9 players from last year's team that also finished 5th. I really think we'll be better than Texas and OU. Comments? Let the games begin.

I always find our conference ranking dissappointing, given our relative success, and then I look at the rest of the teams in our conference and have to concede that it's probably accurate. Go Big 12 women's hoops!

I will eat my own shizzle if KU finishes 7th in a 10 team conference. lol...
Make sure you don't call the charge. But make sure you call the foul on the scrum.... -

It seems like most of the MBB powers also have respectable to very good women's teams (UNC, Duke, Mich. St., etc.). Kansas appears to be the exception to that rule and it puzzles me to no end. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful because Big 12 is a beast of a WBB conference as it is, but it doesn't make sense.

Definitely the toughest top-to-bottom conference. Wow, no nights off this year. Glad NU and CU are gone, they always played us tough and hurt our street cred.
My predictions this year:
1. 1 or 2 below .500 in conference play teams makes it to the Big Dance.
2. ISU's homecourt gives it a .500+ record
3. ISU has two marquee wins at home against 1-4 on this list.

Lots of question marks regarding this team, they really need Moody to emerge at PG as a legit playmaker and shooter. BF really needs 4 shooters on the floor with Poppens this season or else it becomes very difficult to score.

It's all about coaching. Bonnie has consistently underachieved at KU. She has brought in monster recruiting classes, but has yet to achieve any level of success. Agreed, if she could coach a game as well as she can recruit, they'd be much better. We should have taken them home and away last year but couldn't get an in-bounds play. Even so, there aren't a lot of inside-outside duos better than Carolyn Davis and Monica Engleman and they've given us trouble in the past. Davis will test our inside defense.

I think our post play will be determined game by game, if we need the offense - Prins will get more minutes, if we need the tough D, Pop will get the minutes, against Griner, - Prins will play.
Anna is a huge weapon, but she runs into trouble against undersized posts who have a good perimeter or mid-range game.
All the Big-12 teams sans Baylor have question marks this year.
OU - no DRob, and posts still young
A&M - wow, huge loss of seniors
Texas - well, has Gail delivered yet? Reed may help, but....
K-State - loss of players and team chemistry issues
KU - Great talent, underachievers
TTech - could be a sleeper team - needs court leadership
ISU - point guard
Mizzou - better than some think, lost a lot of seniors
