WBB Fan Recruiting Question

I mentioned at the time now after seeing them matched up - Iowa had a highly RATED class, but ISU had some great undervalued, from the ratings standpoint, recruits. Whose class do you think will have the bigger impact over the course of their careers?

If history is any indication, Fennelly will get more out of his unheralded recruits than Bluder can ever hope to coax out of her "highly regarded" newbies. There's a reason why Iowa has no success in the post-season: Bluder isn't a very good coach. She doesn't develop players and only coaches to the competition she knows: Big 10 foes. Once she has to play anyone outside her conference, she's outclassed (in more ways than one). Fennelly has always been able to get more out of his girls than just about any other coach.

But that's just my take...

No contest ISU has by far the more athletic and harder working players.

Completely agree. Bluder hasn't ever made it past the second round of the NCAA tournament despite several very highly rated recruiting classes. Fennelly's record of achievement and excellence speaks for itself: twice in the Elite 8, five times in the Sweet 16. Fennelly is famous for taking under-the-radar talent and forming it all into his "system" which drives opposing coaches nuts and makes them respect him a ton. And Fennelly has achieved tons of post-season success without top notch recruiting classes, in fact I think his highest rated class in history was Pop-Prins-Zimmerman-Schroll.

Another bad coach very similar to Lisa Bluder is Bonnie H. at Kansas, who lands lots of highly rated Top-50 caliber recruits but then never wins games in post-season (or even makes post-season).

You couldn't have said it any better. The funny thing is Virginia Johnson who was ranked # 61 by Hoopgurlz, doesn't even play.
