The Bulls will not be intimidated by the crowd or reputation. They already played (and were crushed at) UConn, Duquesne and Dayton, games which bolster their rpi to 174. They're 5-8 and 1-5 on the road. Heddedson, 5'9" sr. guard, averages 19 ppg and is the only player to have started every game. If Fennelly's message is receive, ISU will not let up regardless of the score and the margin could be around 30 pts.
“We’ve got a pretty good football conference, and we’ve got a pretty good conference overall. We’re still walking around with our heads held high and our chest out, about that.” Paul Rhoads
ISU managed to pull away in the 2nd half. We trailed by seven (I think) in the first half. Buffalo kept chucking up 3s and they kept going in - seven of them in the first half. We played better in the 2nd half and Buffalo went 0-fer the half from beyond the arc. Pop had her usual double-double (19 points, 13 boards). Mansfield had a nice game with 10 points and 9 assists.
Hopefully Fennelly was happier with the performance today than he was yesterday. I thought the girls looked decent for the most part (Anna was 1-9 from the floor - not good). Z was a nice little sparkplug again (5 points, 3 boards in 13 minutes). She's been able to cut down on mental mistakes and has played with some confidence, which is nice to see. Hopefully she can continue to get minutes when Ellis comes back as well.
9-2 heading into league play isn't too bad. Time to get the Sooners down in Norman!
It looked like we tried a zone in the first half which was ineffective to stop their shooters. It looked like we switched to man in the second half which was pretty effective. Bill did some jawwing but he was pretty calm - even in the first when we fell behind.
