The women don't need to play in a 20000 seat arena. Happened to catch the last minute of UGA/USC tonight in the SEC - building was ghost town in Nashville, which is what the B12 will look like in Dallas.

2003: #1 Texas vs #3 Tech - 10,310
2004: #6 OU vs #1 Texas - 8,226
2006: #1 OU vs #2 Baylor - 10,673
The disparity was even bigger in OKC in 2007. The sessions that OU was in (as #2) drew 10,210; 10,102; and 12,413 (final against #5 ISU). None of the other three sessions drew 6,000.
In 2009 (OKC), the OU (#1) sessions had 7,634 and 9,203. They lost in the semis, and the final between Baylor and A&M drew 4,340.
The Big 12 will need to bank on Oklahoma/Baylor and Iowa State being top-4 teams in the same year in order to get good attendance in OKC and Dallas. The problem is that the women will be playing in the NBA arenas in those towns, which probably means curtained-off upper decks.

Re: WBB seeding scenarios for the Big 12 Tournament
I'm not saying that the other locations are better. Muni definitely is the right fit for the attendance, and I'd prefer it 20 minutes from where I live. My real point is that KU and MU have been no help to women's attendance. WIN KC which suppoerts women's athletics in Kansas City is a plus, but ISU and KSU drive attendance in Kansas City.

Re: WBB seeding scenarios for the Big 12 Tournament
Tech pulls off a surprising 64-63 upset @ KSU, making us the 4 seed. Not a big deal, but it also makes us tied for 4th in the conference instead of alone in 5th. Just a few bragging rights things.

Just a few bragging rights things. In terms of NCAA, every little bit helps. Finishing ahead of KSU, with its gaudy rpi, is an edge. Now, to rebound and get a third win. Then, with even just one win back at Hilton, it'll have been a good season.
As for KC, I like the location and size, but, the city hasn't invested a dime in the facility since I first saw it 12+ years ago. One game is alright, but, the seating isn't comfortable - no leg room - for a tournament.

If they split weeks as has been stated you could move the womens to the Sprint Center.

Re: WBB seeding scenarios for the Big 12 Tournament
If you look at these major conferences tournaments this week, Big 10, SEC, ACC, Big East, they are all in large arenas with no atmosphere because of all of the empty seats. I would like to see a smaller arena but know the usual place in KC isn't the bright facility as these other places.

Re: WBB seeding scenarios for the Big 12 Tournament
We don't need "scenarios" anymore. Brackets are set. Three upsets on the last weekend changed the final standings, but, none that will affect our games. On the other side of the bracket, UT could be a dark horse.

Re: WBB seeding scenarios for the Big 12 Tournament
Two interesting happenings: OU/A&M came down to a coin flip, and the way the KU/UT/OSU tie shook out finally determined which tiebreak interpretation is correct (mine was wrong).

That was only because TN was playing, their fans travel many schools fans do not.
