No answer at all for that press.

77-53 final.
I'm a little shocked we only had 15 turnovers. Did we just have very few in the first half?

Wow- I didn't know the ladies tipped so early today...just looking at the ESPN box score and saw that after leading by 4 in the 2nd half that Baylor went on a 39-8 run. Crazy stuff. I guess its encouraging that they played with them for 25 minutes.

We have not handled pressure all year long; the last two games before this one, we could not get the ball in after the opposition made a basket except with extreme difficulty. Once the ball is in, and our ball handler has two players on her, she has to pass up the court and not try to dribble through the defense. These stats are telling:
turnovers: B 2, us 15; steals: B 12, us 5; rebounds: B 32, us 22.

Baylor women are the real deal. Pretty tough to beat a team that plays great D and has a 6'8" man playing the post

If they would have handled the press better, everything else (making baskets, playing defense) would have been better too. It almost seemed like the goal changed from scoring to just getting it across half court. Unfortunately, no points were awarded for that today. It seemed like they kept trying the same strategy, and it kept failing -- the definition of frustration. The guards could have used a little more attitude out there, some confidence. A press can be a great opportunity to make the pressing team pay. Baylor had as many as 4 players inside or around the half court line. Shouldn't that leave the majority of the court open? One way or another, the coaches and/or players should have handled the press better.
It was terrific that the team showed it could compete with Baylor for more than half. It's just too bad Baylor showed complete domination down the stretch.

I really hope we beat KSU in the tournament and face Baylor again. Not that I think we could beat them, but I'd like to see what we could do against that press given a second chance at it.
