Though for the most part I think we will be fine, teams like Iowa that to 4 guards, 1 post, or the teams running the 3 guard 2 forward style offense might cause us some challenges.

I for one am really excited to see our new gals on the court. A lot of talent there, and quite honestly, more quickness than we probably have ever seen in our guard court, ever.

I'm sure there are lots of abbreviations or nicknames that can have multiple meanings. I have made an attempt to contact Christofferson about this. This is the third year I've been writing about her using this "nickname" and have never had anyone mention this before...inside or outside the basketball program. Doesn't change your sensitivities to it, but we'll see what she says.

I still think that our inside game will be the focus and the ball going through them on almost every play. Moody should improve just by the increase in her experience level. A lot will depend on how Em. and Kidd can handle Big 12 play and how well that they can score. I am looking forward to seeing them on the court. Maddie, I think will play more then some people think. She will take minutes from both Zim and Ellis in the post and maybe even Hallie. She just needs to be as physical as Pop was a a freshman and she will do fine. To echo another post, November can not come soon enough.

I will be curious to see Baier play. I havent yet to see her but have heard several people comment she is not Big 12 caliber. I think it will be hard to get any minutes from Anna and Pop who both are possible of all-american level play and Hallie who seemsis to havethe all ofwho what wethe need at the 4 so if Baier does get time as you say good for her and I will be less worried about our post situation for next season..

Baier's play reminds me of that big post from OSU. McIntyre?
    but without the shooting touch

Big and physical, good rebounder, raw offensive skill set.
BF might throw her in to simplify things if Pop/Anna/Hallie are getting frustrated or something otherwise i don't see her "taking away" minutes from our other posts.

I think Zim and Ellis will be fighting for the available post minutes, so I wouldn't expect to see much of her this year. She needs to work hard to be ready for her chance next year.

My big question is, what kind of defensive team will we be this year? When Coach Jack came, we shifted our emphasis to Man defense, and lost some of our Zone advantage from practicing it less. Is BF thinking more zone, or has the advantage of a well-trained matchup zone evolved out of the game? Everyone talks about offense, but defense is so important to Hilton Magic.

I recall Maddy averaging over four blocks a game in her Senior year. D-1 ball will be tougher so blocking may not be a big part of her game-but I can't remember the last time we had a shot blocking threat. Maddy is said, or self-described, as being pretty coordinated for tall person and runs the court well. Another reason to tune in.

I know that the WBB program does not redshirt a lot. If ever there was an argument to RS, it would be a freshman post player this year. We are solid with returning experience at 4 & 5. Unless Maddy is looking like the second coming of Pop in practice, I'd seriously consider a RS. Look at what it did for Brit Wilkins.

The good thing is Baier will have a chance to show what she can do during the non-conference season.

Brittany Wilkins sat our her first year because she had surgery on her knee before the start of the season.
All people who make sweepingly generalized, stupid, uninformed comments are idiots.

Re: Twister Sister Summary - A Pre- Pre- Season peek

I don't think Anna started many games last year early due to injury then later due to strategy-so I don't see that changing.

So the first four are easy in my mind as to starting:

    G: Nikki
    F: Pop
    F: Hallie
    SF: Brynn

That leaves the second guard spot open and I think Emiah/Kidd will be fighting in contrasting styles for that spot. I have no idea -TOSS UP!

We will go from a good supply of forwards/C this year with a talented, but young, front court and flip that next year if everything works out.

The one big thing we need to change this year, and I feel we will, is that old bugbear of winning on the road. Our experience will make a difference. And, I think this will be a great season with 22-23 wins. I think we will get into the Top Ten by seasons end.
