Are you saying, by default, that ISU's coach is hot?

Somebody send out a bat signal so you can defend your hawks?
No... I was insinuating that you thought a dude was good looking.

I was at the game, and was showcked at how physical it was. Mostly from Iowa's side. #12 for Iowa (Johnson?) was getting away with all kinds of shoving/moving screens and there were a couple times where an ISU guard would come around a screen, and she would just flat out grab them and hold them so they couldn't get open. I recall one specific incident where she set a screen for Pritney towards the end of the game, and hip-checked Moody as she came around. Moody got knocked into Pritney, and was called for a foul and Pritney went to the line...
I understand that - but she has a toolbox of skills that none of our guards currently have. In college though, Buckley will have to play a lot smarter defensively, and not take as many chances as she does in high school. She won't be able to recover like she does now. She still would start right now for us, no question.
Don't forget - Iowa was the first team that really applied defensive pressure against ISU, both on the ball and off. Obviously, we have gotten to the line a lot more with Poppens playing - it looked like we wanted to spread the court with her absence. But you have to have shooters to do that.
Buckley is good even awesome but Moody is the quickest guard to waer an ISU uniform and has a pretty good toolbox. Logic who you made a big deal about our recruiting not being as good as Iowa was not where near the level of Nicki on that court.
I respect your opinion quite a bit but I think we will do quite well this season and put very little stock evaluating this teams season based off this game.
No the refs were not all the fault for our loss we did not shot well from the field. Did you listen to Bills comments in the post game show? He was talking about how tough Annas defense was on Johnson and that she played 39 minutes which as he said was hard on her legs whiich affected her shooting late in the game. We lost by 8 points, they shot 25 free throws we shot 5 and made them all. Had we shot 20 more (to match what they shot) and only made 50% we win by 2 points. So the way the game was called did have some effect on the outcome.
i disagree - i thought the refs took the life out of us! Anytime we took the ball to the rim - we were hand checked, bodied out of the play and couldn't get a call. Twice in the 2nd half, after tying the score we drove to the hoop and no calls were made. Moody ended up on the ground on one drive! No way the hawks shoot 25 free throws to our 5. Terrible refs!!! Watch the replay! if we drive and get some calls - the game is flipped on the scoreboard. We play at Hilton and we win by 15 or more. We got homered by the refs!
Remember 2008-2009? It was another lopsided, frustrating loss at Iowa on the BTN. We were 5-1 heading into the game. The lone loss at the time was vs. Stanford in Hawaii, a week before the Iowa game. We had just entered the top 25. We also had a couple road games before the Hawaii trip, at UNI and at Creighton. We dropped out of the rankings after the Iowa loss.
How did that season go? We beat #10 Texas A&M at Hilton. Won some, lost some. And ended in the Elite 8 vs. Stanford after the dramatic win against MSU in the regional semifinal in Berkeley.
There's no reason this team cannot reach its goals -- learn from the Iowa loss and never give up on where you want to be at the end of the season.
If you think Fennelly is good looking, you don't need to use my post as an excuse to say it.
