Bottom line is she quit on her teamates. That does not show good character. I quit a sport once. However, it was after the season even though I was miserable mid way through that season. I quit the track team when I was in HS. The coach and teammates thanked me for it.

Re: Emiah leaving team
There is one aspect of this that I really do not like, if I understand the story correctly. She quit the team while the head coach was out of town. From what I understood from the news article in the Ames Trib, Emiah and her parents talked with "the coaching staff" yesterday morning, and then she quit in the afternoon. If BF was out of town, that may mean she (they) did not actually meet with him face to face. Something about that just does not seem right to me.
We will probably never know all of the circumstances to this story. Like most, it is hard for me to understand what could have possibly been that egregious that a freshman player had to quit less than a third of the way through the season. http://amestrib.com/sections/sports/...r.html-0#small

Getting done before the semester changes over might help that.

Re: Emiah leaving team
Not good if she quit without talking to Fennelly in person. More stuff in this article about the "family" talking to the coaching staff.

Re: Emiah leaving team
Reading between the lines of rbingley's defense when someone criticized her attitude towards teammates last game, it seems like she wasn't getting along with one or more of her teammates. Hard to say. With Kidd moving ahead in the rotation, and the star point guard coming in next year, maybe she felt she would be fighting for PT anyway. Sad, I thought she was a great addition to the team, and her lost minutes at PG will be very hard to replace. BF said at one point that Kidd doesn't have much interest in being PG. We will miss her athleticism and ball-handling. Hallie as backup PG?

It does work both ways on using CF to promote your kid but not wanting to set the record straight on a very abrupt departure from the team.
Also agree with the part of quitting on her teammates. This is a huge issue. You spent months getting to know your teammates before you sign your LOI. They invested their own time to host you. They work out over the summer with you to help you get better. You may not be getting along with your roommate but there is an investment there as well. You bonded as a team in the trip out of the country. No matter what the "real" reason is, play out the season for your teammates.

Refresh my memory. When Lucious left MSU in the middle of the season did he quit or was he booted.

Overbearing parents belong in little league, not D1 athletics.

What's a trend? Outside of a very few, no one on this site knows why she left. So making the type of comments that have been made are pure speculation and rumoring. My dad's advice always rings true...if you don't know what you're talking about don't talk.

Re: Emiah leaving team
It is always a shame to quit halfway through a commitment. Adios, buckaroo.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style.
