So, why bother to say anything at all? If you don't like the women's games, don't go, don't talk about it, and don't waste the time of people who actually DO appreciate and support successful Iowa State programs. I do not understand the need of some people to make comments about things on a message board (or anywhere else) they clearly have no interest in. If you're so bored by women's hoops, stay out of the the women's basketball threads. It's not rocket science. We'll all be much happier if you stay away.

Oklahoma never led, and rarely even got within three possessions. There were only two or three times where the "pick them up" crowd noise was necessary. It was plenty loud on terrible calls (as usual) and mini-runs with a three-pointer or two (as usual). By the time the margin ballooned to 15-17, the job was done.
Had it been a "typical" ISU-OU game (single digits), I'm sure there would have been a lot more noise.
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
I'm sure the economy also plays a role.
Anyone notices the change in the school's workload ? Weeknight games will always have to compete with school activities.
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
I have to disagree with a couple of things said here. First, I felt the crowd was very much into the game at critical junctures. Even Coach Fennelly commented about that after the game. That place was loud last night. Coach Coale also commented in her post game remarks. I also don't think the men's team has any major impact. Some will say people have to choose where to spend their entertainment dollars. The women's game is dirt cheap. During the peak years of attendance both the men and women's teams were highly successful. I think level of success is a critical factor. Men's attendance has been down until the Mayor came back. Some winning and "boom" attendance is up. I've heard people who no longer come to women's games say they had to make decisions from a pure financial and time aspect. While I drive 2 hours to go to games I know people that used to come from mason city who dropped it for those reasons. The marketing to youth seems to have dropped to an almost non-existent level. Why don't students come? The game needs to be exciting and different things excite different people. I love watching good defense. I love watching the 3 hitting nothing but net. That is the women's game. Anyone who watched last nights game and thought it was boring...well...they need to get on some anti-depressant drugs. To me, the bigger question is why all of the tickets that have been sold aren't being used or donated to someone that might come? ISU still sells 10K tickets a year. Where are they?
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
I'm sure the economy has a little to do with it as well.

Aren't tickets like $10?

Gas also adds in there.

Which alone says nothing about the consumer's thought on their discretionary income in 2013 compares to 2000. Also, gas and food prices are up.
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
Still, ISU was 3rd in the country in attendance last year.

Actually, I watched on TV and noted in the middle of the second half that the crowd seemed to come to life as we were putting OU away. I thought they played a key role in supporting our team in helping to prevent OU even getting ideas about trying to make a comeback.

Paid attendance. Actual was probably around 6.
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
I think people only have so much disposable time. Let's be honest here, MBB is much more fun to watch. Now, when we sucked I think there were people who took to the WBB games more but now, if people only have a night or two a week, they are likely to go to mens games or watch mens games. Those things along with how easy it is to watch a game on TV are the likely factors.
Re: Hilton atmosphere during womens' game has deteriorated.
I think "the economy" is a poor excuse for anything from women's basketball to car sales. Stock market has been going, unemployment rate has been going down, farm economy is record-setting right now, etc. If you don't want to do something you'll make an excuse - if you do you'll find a way.
Kind of like how student always complain about being broke but drop $30 3 times per week at the bars. Priorities are to blame, not "the economy"
