Dryburnt I am waiting for your reply still and I see you are online. You seemed like you were a creative person to mock me back but you have failed. :realmad:
They used and to give away more unsold tickets to youth organizations/maentoring programs. The organization i work for used to get tickets for these games last year we got offered volleyball tickets a couple times and football for osu game (what a game for kids to see there first game)and but nothing on the basketball front and nothing this year. Not sure why they dont do it but that may be a couple hundred body's they could have in there developing future fans.
B) you don't understand and appreciate the nuances of the game. The women play incredible team ball. Could teach the men a thing or two about shut down defense and shooting free throws.
If you don't like it, don't take the time to diss an Iowa state team on its message boards. Take the negativity elsewhere. It's one thing to be critical if you are a true fan, quite another if you are not.
You are a huge fan of Audrey Hepburn, and I think that is great. But, I think she is one of the most overrated boring actresses ever. I respect that, but you opened the door.
Oh, what the heck, might as well weigh in. I can't comment much on the atmostphere since I don't get down to games often but watch on Cyclone.TV. Even though I am a big fan I do think the game has changed a lot since those Welle and Taylor teams. We have more brawling on defense (aka Basketbrawl) and seemingly less basketball skills displayed in many games. I have stuck with the team and the game but understand why it might not be for everyone.
I also think their might be some issues with unrealized expectations. A dozen years ago I thought we might be on our way to establishing ourselves as a Top 10 type program. Probably similar to what folks are now thnking about volleyball. I no longer have that expectation to get to that next level in WBB. I don't have any idea what to think about attendence drops for the elite teams mentioned in some of the posts.
Finally, don't get why folks uninterested in watching the team or WBB in general have to waste their time telling others that the game sucks. It would be like me spending a bunch of time on the wrestling threads. I have never been a wrestling fan and never will be so I have nothing to really contribute to a wrestling thread. No sense in me going there and annoying folks by telling them that wrestling sucks.
As suggested, IMO, many of us were just hungry for success for an ISU team...any team...and it was easy to jump on the bandwagon. Now, with FB rising and men's BB back, that previous void has been filled.
I think that girl from Baylor and the fact that their are so few upsets in WBB is hurting the brand of WBB as a whole. Its all about UCONN, Baylor, Tenn, STAN their needs to be more parity to get new fan bases excited and keep the game fresh.
Pollard needs to try some more creative measures to get people and the students to actually show up to these games. I am kinda ashamed of the fact I have been to 5 women's basketball games while I've been in school. It shouldn't come to this, but its going to have to happen.
This. And the game no longer resembles what it was just a decade ago. Sad.
