Cyclones lose in OT 78-75 after blowing the 18 point lead. Bad bad loss after holding that big a lead that late in a game. Glad there wasn't a gametime thread on this, it would have made for some ughly postings. Watching the men while listening to the gals did not make for a happy BoxsterCy.

How do you blow a 15 point lead with less than 8 minutes left?

You have the ref's swallow the whistle and let Gardner and Davis do what they want.
You have a coach take out his starting pointguard to play a true freshman, who turns it over under their pressure.
You stop throwing the ball inside because nothing gets called.
You don't play defense, you sag and let open shooters hit 3's.
You miss free-throws after hitting all of them in the first half.
You play not to win, but not to lose.
You don't have a decent inbounds play with 4 seconds left in regulation, after calling time 2X's.

Essentially, you do everything the opposite of what you did for 32 minutes. It was excrutiating to watch. This thing is on coach. Put the pedal down, put a team away. I don't care about giving people experience. You have to win games like this. Be Baylor and play your starters 'til there is a minute left.

It's really sad. I told somebody with 10 minutes left, that we'd lose that game.

On the questions of how we lost. Moody got her fourth foul with 9 minutes or so left. Kid turned it over a few times and when we didn't turn it over we were apparently lost on offense (I was only radio tuned on this). Moody came back in with three minutes left and immediately turned it over twice and missed a layup after she broke through to the hoop. That's what happened but it doesn't explain why. At the end of regulation I figured we were spent and KU had the mojo which they did in OT. I am in a pretty **** poor mood right know. When we were cruising at 18 ahead I was thinking my 9-9 conference outlook was going to look stupid and pessimistic, maybe not so much.

It's an interesting stat. Why did Moody have to sit with 4 fouls? Davis and Gardner played through all that time with 4 fouls? I'm sure Moody wouldn't have picked up 5. They didn't. Nor did they have any problems making it through the overtime.

To Kidd's defense, when you say turnover, you can say she was mugged, too. It's too bad more fans couldnt' see the game. It's always so amazing how different these outcomes are when we play at home.

Thanks Sobchakcylone for telling us about it, also Boxster Cy. I decided to go with the sound on the Men's game because I don't get that much out of radio anyway. Tonight was as frustrating a night as I can ever remember in Cyclone basketball. My heart is broken, what else can I say? I imagine the women put out huge effort. It sounds like we didn't get any breaks. Sounds like another night at that ####hole in Kansas.

Davis sat for several minutes with 4 fouls. Moody was making stupid fouls. And you saw the result of her not being in there and then you saw how bad she could be when she went back in. Imagine how different this might have looked if she had stayed in and picked up her 5th with 7 to play. Probably the same result.
