WBB bracketology
ESPN's Charlie Creme FINALLY updated their bracketology (only took him three weeks since the last one). He has Iowa State moved up to a 5 seed in the Louisville (the 4 seed) sub-region, which is in the Spokane region, playing Pacific in the 1st round. Stanford is the 1 seed in that region. He has seven Big 12 teams getting in, but all except Baylor (obviously) are seeded lower than us.

Re: WBB bracketology
I don't understand how Iowa is a 7 seed, last time they were a 6 seed and then lost 3 in a row to unranked teams. What does everyone think our highest possible seed can be (we won't beat baylor in the big12 tourney)?

Re: WBB bracketology
West Virginia a 10 seed facing Syracuse and then Maryland
OSU an 8 seed facing Duquesne and then Notre Dame
Kansas an 11 seed facing Colorado and then Kentucky
ISU a 5 seed facing Pacific and then Louisville (on their home court)
TTech a 7 seed facing Virginia and then Penn State
Oklahoma a 6 seed facing Miami and then ATM
Baylor a 1 seed facing Texas Southern and then Green Bay or DePaul
Iowa gets in (hosting) as a 7 seed (what is Creme drinking?) against St Joes and then probably Cal.

I think that is it. Even doing that I'm not sure you could say we are a top 12 team and therefore deserving a 3 seed. A 4 seed would be an incredible accomplishment.

Re: WBB bracketology
I think Iowa is over-seeded as well. I would put them as an 8 right now. If they don't turn around their season soon (which I hope they don't), they're probably looking at a 9 or 10. As for Iowa State, I think we can get up to a 3 seed if we win out and make the Big 12 finals. A 2 is definitely pushing it as there are just too many teams ahead of us that have a stronger resume'. Our RPI and SOS number are favorable to maintain or move up a bit from where we currently are, very much so if you go by Sagarin.
The possibility is definitely there to finally win some meaningful post-season games for the first time in a while. The team just has to keep up the pace and close the season out. There are six games to go and they are all winable. The bad news is that there are no guarantees in any of them. I trust that the seniors, especially, know what is at stake and will do everything they can to make this season last as long as possible.

For those of you that are interested in the womens tournament and seedings- here is a blog website that updates Mondays and Thursdays. The site sets up an empirical formula to seed their teams. Last year they were correct in 61 of the 64 teams in the tournament and predicted 80% of teams within 1 seed (higher or lower).
I believe that once the teams have been ran through the formula and ranked then the "S-Curve" can be applied to seed the teams. The S-Factor -
Re: WBB bracketology
Does Iowa still make if they lose their next 4 and game 1 in the bIg tourny? They have Neb twice and Penn St. and Purdue. They end the season with NW and Indiana - so they will probably win those 2. However, NW did just beat them at home.
So does a 18-13 (7-9) Iowa team make the dance? I know that the committee is always in favor of the host team making it.. but with Ames not far away... they would still have tremendous attendence even without Iowa!

Re: WBB bracketology
If ISU wins out and beats Baylor in the championship game - I see a 4 seed. The Big 12 is down this year and our non-con was BRUTAL!!! Absolutely the worst scheduling EVER!

Absolutely the worst scheduling EVER! The Big 12 is still the top RPI and SOS conference, according to Realtime (and just about everyone else). Our SOS is currently 47th, while the RPI is 23. It won't take winning out and beating Baylor in Dallas to reach a 4 seed.

The S-Factor The bracketology at this site also shows ISU as a 5 seed currently, but the 2nd 5 seed, not the 4th/last, which is what Creme's shows for us.
It also shows Iowa as the last 10 seed (not a 7 seed as in Creme's).

Re: WBB bracketology
Once again Iowa loses, do you guys think they would get in if they're .500 or under in the big 10? I would love for us to play the first two games in Iowa.
