I have yet to watch an NCAA game in which the announcers didn't comment on how bad the officiating is. Am currently watching the Baylor-Louisville game things are exceptionally rough. Louisville's strategy is literally to beat the crap out of Griner. Came to a head twice in the first half with Griner retaliating once with a smack to the head of a Louisville player and going nose to nose later on.
I counted 5 fouls on Louisville players in a 6 second span just defending Griner. One was called. It almost appears as if they are trying to kill her with death by numerous small blows. The announcers in this game commented numerous times about how the officials were letting things get out of hand. Of course the Louisville coach felt the foul discrepancy was out of whack and he didn't think he would have any players left at this rate. Coach...as long as you coach thug ball...you deserve what you get.
I do agree that the officiating for the NCAA tournament has been crappy BUT Griner deserves what she gets. I do think she is a dominating player, but she probably has 10+ fouls a game that don't get called. If she gets hit in the gut a couple times and no foul is called, it's just a small sample size of what she has done her entire career.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.
I don't feel bad for Griner. Even though the officiating is bad, she has gotten away with all sorts of crap her whole career. I've felt the hack-the-crap-out-of-Griner would be a great strategy. Get her off her game and upset.
