SI.com calls Cyclones "overrated"

SI's Richard Deitsch wrote a breakdown of the Greensboro regional, and calls the Twister Sisters the most overrated team there. He insinuates that the only reason we made the tourney is because of Heather Ezell's potential to rain 3s.

He can say whatever he wants; I'll be at the Well screaming my head off for the ladies!

Umm yeah, so what, he is right, that is the only reason ISU made the tourney, because of a great run in the big12 and another in the tourney. And yes Heather's three pointers made a HUGE difference. But his point is?

We got there because a player can make a shot, i.e. the entire point of the game of basketball.

It reminds me of hawk fans saying we only won because we blitzed them on every play. Right, we used a perfectly legal and often used tactic to beat you.

What are we an 7 seed? Since when is a 7 seed overrated? I do agree that we are probably not that good, but he has to give the girls a ton of credit. To make the tourney w/o Weiben and Ross is a great accomplishment

Even though we talk about the injured players all the time, they don't really care about that since it happened such a long time ago, and the seed was given based on the current players play.

I have tix today, it will be my first time watching them this year....should be interesting!

<start sarcasm>...and they have a strong RPI, several wins over ranked teams, etc. Yup, he's right. and that whole thing about being able to make baskets to win games. Wow, never thought about that before. I wonder if that's how all of the other teams make it?<end sarcasm>

In terms of being a 7 seed, he may have a point about being overrated. I recall discussion that we were likely around a 9 seed in terms of rankings. Something about not wanting to put us in the 8-9 game and then have the 1 seed have to face us in essentially a home team environment. Thus the 7 seed which was probably a stretch.

It's just nice to have the team playing post season so I'll just enjoy the run as long as it lasts.

So they want the extra money from more butts in the seats, but they don't want the team to benefit from that same crowd.

i think this hits it right on the head. we were seeded above nebraska, and texas (who is DEFINITELY better than us...same big xii record as us, but in the south) who are both 8 seeds. Biggest thing is tho, that if we made the tourney, we were guaranteed to play in DM as the host school. They couldn't give us an 8 or 9 seed like steve said, because that would mean sending a #1 seed to iowa, who all deserve to play close to home. SO, then the only options are to make us a 7 or 10 seed. And i have a feeling the committe didn't feel up to giving us (or any big xii team) a 10 seed. and especially with how hot we played in the big xii tourney.
