This weekend the big 12 women went 8 for 8 in the NCAA tournament. I think that this shows that the Big 12 is the toughest, top to bottom, in the entire country! There are also 3 other Big 12 teams in the NIT!! A total of 11 of the 12 teams made the post season. Texas Tech won their first game in the NIt, making the big 12 9 for 9 in total.
Also, the Big 11 went 1 for 4 including their co-champs both going down in upsets, lol!!
You know the respect is there for the Big 12. Iowa State got a #7 seed as the 8th team in the Big 12. The Iowa women were co-champs of the Big 10 and got a 9 seed.
The Big 12 made a little NCAA tournament history on Saturday and Sunday, becoming the first conference in Division I history to go 8-0 in first-round games.
The Big East nearly equaled the feat, going 7-1 (Hartford upset seventh-seeded Syracuse on Saturday). In fact, the Big East was 7-1 in the first round last season, as well.
A look at how other leagues fared in the first round after placing eight teams in the field of 64:
2004: Big East 5-3 2002: SEC 6-2 1999: SEC 6-2
So if 8 Big 12 teams and 7 Big East teams advanced. That means almost half the remaining field is made up from 2 conferences. (15 of 32 ~ 47%)

I know of at least one Big East team playing one Big 12 team in the second round, so that's not entirely possible.....but I see what you're saying, its impressive.
He was saying that almost half of the teams in the second round are from the big 12 and big east. If they were to all advance (which they cant as you pointed out) they would make up almost the entire field.

yeah, what he said. I was just pointing out how impressive it is that nearly half the field is from these two conferences... not that the next round could be only made up of them (that would take too much research ... and I'm not into that "reading" fad)

Yeah your rite and just look at what happened to those lovely squaw ladies...laid down like dogs and went one and done in the big dance.
note of interest... a good friend of mine once played for the jaysquawks of kansas and they went out to colorado and lost as usual and a big donor called the athletic director and told him that the team just ...LAID DOWN LIKE DOGS!!!!!
