Re: NYTimes article on the game tonight

ummmmm..... NO.

The stands may be awash in Iowa State colors, but many in the crowd will probably find it hard to root against Stringer. She has retained a large and loyal following among Iowans.
I don't find it hard to root against any Hawkeye; past, present or future, especially if they are playing AGAINST Iowa State.. geesh..... And I am sure the "Iowans" is a typo.. as the writer meant "UofI fans".

-keep.

The Jack Trice Story ESPN & Wiki
"My thoughts just before the first real college game of my life: The honor of my race, family and self are at stake," Trice wrote. "Everyone is expecting me to do big things. I will!"
"I really don't even remember exactly what happened," Klink after losing 15-13 at JackTriceStadium
"a great enviroment for college football. Just like going into OSU or UM."Greenway after losing 23-3 a JackTriceStadium

No kidding. I just think that anyone, (except for those "new believers" who convert utterly and completely to the "one true faith" of Iowa State fandom) who has ever been "slimed" by the disgusting-ness that is the University of Iowegia is to be looked at with anything except for utter contempt and pity.

But that's just me. I could be wrong...

outside of the comment on Iowa mentioned above, I didn't have a problem with the article... free, relatively positive pub for ISU in one of the world's largest and well-known newspapers? can't complain about that. Plus Algona and Zwingle get some love as well.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I liked the knobs that wore Iowa garb to the game because the support coach stringer. Must not have been able to get tickets to the wrestling in St Louis!

Re: NYTimes article on the game tonight

What the article really points out to me is what a classy guy Bill Fennelly is. He always has something classy and respectful to say about opposing coaches. It also really shows how dedicated he is to ISU. I have to respect Stringer as a coach, but there's no way I could ever like her.

If anyone remembers the first time we played Rutgers in the NCAA tournament (I think it was the first woman's game I'd ever seen on TV), Rutgers had a player who tried to go Mike Tyson on Jayme Olsen. It was pretty funny. I still wouldn't necessarily equate Rutgers with class.

I was sitting right under the basket where that happened. That clip was used by the Daily Show for some reason that was unflattering towards women's basketball. The refs let Rutgers play very physical and you knew something was eventually going to happen. Jayme was a very nice person and she was not backing down so that should tell how rough Rutgers played. Rutgers won but Hilton was amazing that night and that whole opening round.

The best part was Olsen just stared at her in disbelief and then started laughing and walked away.

I will have to dig my "I heart Vivian" T-shirt out of my closet. I believe it is probably near my "Teetotalers for Zabel" shirt.

Well, you have to give her some credit. She saw the light and left for someplace better. Much like her men's basketball counterparts Steve Alford, Ralph Miller, George Raveling, and Lute Olson did.
