just as another bill fennely plug- i think what impressed me most about this season was the change in coaching philosphy. for YEARS we've been a finesse team (as already mentioned earlier in this thread). And, really we still are. but in the 3 or 4 seasons before this, we've been much like the phoenix suns are in the nba - so what if you score 75 points. we're gonna score 90. And that worked well for sooooo long. Especially with medders, o'neil, fox, katie robinson, etc. We'd play a loose man defense, and play in transition, nail some threes. However, this year (although the trey still seemed to be our bread and butter...) we cracked down on defense. especially since offense was hard to come by many times this season. And if you watched the season progess, you saw the girls grow in their ability to defend well. especially amanda and jocelyn. little by little they caught on and got better and better. not ever really flashy - but always in the right places at the right times. It's really encouraging to see the girls be able to pick that up - and how apparent it is that our coaches really can gameplan!

I'm disappointed. All this and no FIRE THE COACH. Come on boys and girls we lost. Get rid of the incompetent jerk. He loses 40% of his starting lineup and plays one of the best teams in the nation to the very end. We expect more, we deserve more. Next year we'll have everyone back along with the new recruits but I'm tired of waiting for NEXT YEAR. I say clean house and do it now!!
Oh no I've caught the negativty bug I'll never have another positive thought invade my mind again. It's all over, good by friends I have nothing to live for.

I've heard people don't like women's basketball and haven't seen a game. I have no problem with someone thinking that style of basketball is boring--it's an opinion. But, people can also have their opinions saying yours sucks. Still, just opinions.
For instance, saying the team isn't good because they don't have muscle definition? That's pretty poor. If that's the only thing we have to critique about the team, I think we're doing pretty good.
I mean, this was the SECOND ROUND OF THE NCAA's, against the #2 seeded team. The girls played with them the entire game, and are missing 2 key players. How can this style of basketball be bad/poor? I think people should be modeling play after this team. Only 32 other teams in the nation got to this point. They were at the same point last year. I can only hope the men's team gets to this level.

Why are we slower and why did we let that big girl push our girls around. I think the team did us proud as Cyclone fans. I just had some questions. that is all.

You are not going to see many Div I NCAA WBB teams modeling their gamestyle after ISU, and the reason is below... ISU WBB Conference records
2008 07-09 .438 7th --- NCAA Second Round (1-1)
2007 10-06 .625 4th (T) NCAA Second Round (1-1)
2006 07-09 .438 8th (T) WNIT Second Round (1-1)
2005 12-04 .750 3rd (T) NCAA First Round (0-1)
2004 07-09 .438 7th (T) WNIT Semifinals (3-1)
2003 07-09 .438 8th --- no post season invite
2002 09-07 .563 6th --- NCAA Second Round (1-1)
If, starting next season, and for a few consecutive seasons, ISU can post double digit wins in conference play and advance to the Sweet 16 and beyond a few times, then you may start to see some teams imitate what ISU does.
I do think it would be very cool for coaches to model their motivational style, player interaction style, and demeanor after BF.

Wow... I had no idea that Bill F only had 3 winning conf seasons out of the last 7. Still... fairly solid teams that will win enough to dance will save your job always.

Lots of people wont watch WBB because it IS boring. I do respect what they have accomplished, but Ill never get into it. Nothing wrong with the people that do.
