Huge Weakness for ISU

I watched a full Womens basketball game for the first time ever last night. I could not beleive how slow the ISU womens team is compared to Rutgers. My question is Rutgers that quick of a team or do we look this slow against everyone. Is there a recruit that is comming in that can pick up the quickness level of this team? I really like the way they play. Kind of like Drake men's team but at the same time I don't see them getting to the final 4 ever if they don't get some quicker players on that team.

Yeah I noticed it too, and that may very well have been what kept us from having the extra oomf to beat them. Other than that, the game was close when it could have been a blow out. I was impressed. They definitely have quicker smarter passes when working the ball around than our guys do.

Rutgers is a legit Top 6 team in the country... and always a Top10 team. Think of it that way...

So yes, they are that quick.

The reports on the 3 recruits coming in next year describe them as a prototype point guard, a combo guard with a good handle and shot, and an athletic forward. Not sure about quickness, but I agree that an upgrade is needed. Improved ball handling coming from the 2 guards should help in handling pressure defenses.

And they're the one team that beat UCONN this year.

I think how we played yesterday was pretty impressive.

Lacey has been out of position as a point this year and it will really help to get a true pg.

We've never been an overly athletic team under Fennelly, just not his style.

I think you need to start watching more women's basketball.

That said...styles are different for each team as they work on enhance their strengths and avoid their weaknesses. Rutgers is a quick, physical team that returned all of their players from last year's national championship game -- which they lost.

This has been a difficult year for ISU given the lack of a true point guard and the injuries to the two post players. That said they were competitive in most games and have a bright future (imo) as they are all returning with a lot of experience for next year. Help should be on the way at point guard.

It worked out for the most part I would say. They really could have used a dominant post to put Rutgers' bohemoth to rest.

Re: Huge Weakness for ISU

Aus is out of position, but athleticism is always going to be a challenge for ISU WBB. This is why we play the style we do because it caters to what the team is capable of delivering and keeps us competitive with the more athletic, quicker teams.

Personally, I think Fennelly is a genius that he can continue to produce these above avg. teams with avg. athletes.

I was impressed with what Fennelly did this year with the injuries and talent level. There was a clear difference in talent level last night and the girls played them tough all night long.

exactly lacey is a natural 2 guard.. but u really have to give her credit for playing the way she has.. yes i will admit there has been many times where i have wanted to walk out on the court and sit her on the bench myself but to be thrown into a position the way she was and to follow the point guards we have been lucky to have in the past.. really think about that last sentence... names like.. Stacey Frese...Lindsey Wilson..Anne O'neal.. Lyndsay Medders..... get another player like any one of them..look out..

In all honesty it bores me. I was not really impressed with it last night. I don't understand how a girl as fat as there center can dominate a game. I also noticed that none of our girls had any muscle definition. Is that not part of the off season workouts? I like when they do well. I really do it's just that I don't understand the game at all. I also think they pick a bad time to have there tourny. It should come about a month earlier to build excitement for it instead of having it right in the middle of the men's tourny.
