2009 Front Line?

Poppen and Zimmerman sound like they may be a strong presence in the paint for years to come. But, what about their frosh season? ISU hosts the NCAA that year. Arlen and Bolte are listed at 6'1" and though good 3 or 4 are not likely to be the 5 we'll need. Absent a redshirt for Anderson, is there any speculation of another post recruit late this year or a JC in the next?

Why not us?

My idea to redshirt Anderson got shot down about 5 seconds after I posted it, but I absolutely agree, we need another Angie Welle.

I know this will NEVER happen, but what about redshirting Wieben to allow her knee to fully recover?

I think that would be sacrificing a potential special season next year to make them just a little better the following year. Not worth it IMO.

Exaggeration is a BILLION times worse than understating.

Who will have the stronger front line? The men or the women?

EIU is the other Okoboji University for serious students and home of Captain Kirk who pilots the Enterprise on its Trek through the Universe for finding his next great job. Captain, beware of your Superbowl.

Re: 2009 Front Line?

actually i am not to worried about the 09 season... here is a quick rundown..

In 2009 we will have
Seniors
Lacey
Stuckey
Florzak
Lightbourne
Lange
Mosman

Bolte (only JR)

Now what name sticks out in that group?
Lightbourne.. She improved Greatly this year and i believe will be a big suprise, she might be smaller, but she plays big, i saw alot of potential out of her this year and she can only go up
and who knows she could redshirt this upcoming year, never know

Recruits for 2008..
so they will either be RS Fresh or Soph.

Ashley Arlen (post 6'1)
Whitney Williams (guard)
Alexis Yackley (guard)

All three will have a year under their belt, and i would not be suprised so see them get some minutes.. remember Lacey is not a natural point.. Alexis.. she is.. could be interesting..

2009 Recruits

Jess Schroll (guard..who i am pumped about)
Chelsea Poppens (post)
Amanda Zimmerman (post)
2 players yet to known

Bill could go after another post and a guard and prob. redshirt one of the post players.. im really not worried at all as far as 09..or 10..11...12..

reasons..
1. We will have players that will play their rears off
2. We are stacked for a couple of years for sure and if this year we play like we a capable of.. could be some national attention which never hurts recruiting
3. WE HAVE BILL FENNELLY AS A COACH! after this year how can you be worried about anything?

Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Re: 2009 Front Line?

What we really want is to be like Tenn. and UConn, never rebuilding, just reloading. Having 1 6' 1" post and two Frosh in 2 years seems more like rebuilding. Wish I could get as excitd about Lightbourne as you are.
