Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
Do know that it would have been great to have a local young lady on the court here. Cyclone fans for life, preacher dad, known by everybody in Ames. Nice story for Cyclone Womens BB.
Don't know if Bill F. had a spot for her. Do know she had a dozen very good offers so at least 12 schools think she is talented enough to play at that level.
Have heard that HB has stated that he will go to school where she is at.
Would have been neat to have them both here as a couple and local kids playing ball. Stories like this build a fanbase and attract donors and converts to the cyclone family. We may have missed the boat on this one in many ways.
we'll see what happens????

Comments/question:
I had a girl friend I started dating my junior year in high school. I went to ISU and she went to UNI and Kirkwood. We've been married 35 years last month.
If they really want to be together, she could always transfer to where he goes or at least a school nearby. Maybe Iowa's just a starting point. I wouldn't read too much into it for either school.
Has ISU ever had an Ames High girl on basketball scholarship since BF has been here?

That Nesbitt? Dear heavens, am I getting old.
Too bad BF couldn't find a spot for her. But maybe it'll be like when a kid from Iowa City accepted a kicking scholarship from Danny Mac. Seems to me that Kaeding ended up having a decent career. So Trisha can always change her mind.
Wasn't Kyla Loney the last high DI AHS girls basketball player?
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
From what I'd heard, she wanted to come to ISU bad enough to at least consider walking on. Billy certainly has his favorites - apparently she wasn't one of them.
Look for her to kill us when she gets on the floor. She will indeed have something to prove.:embarrassed:
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
Did anyone notice that Bluder was just signed to an extension? Right after this recruitment?
hmmmmmmm
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
What Greg said Thursday:
Encountered McDermott at a tailgate party. I asked him if he thought "that great player at Ames High" likely would follow Nesbitt to Iowa City. His answer was an emphatic, "Absolutely not." I then told him I was proud of Fennelly and the ISU athletic department for bypassing Nesbitt as a recruit when she is really nothing special. Greg said Bill would never do a thing like that -- that is woo and waste a scholarship on a women's recruit for the wrong reason.
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
But Tommy, Nesbitt is a mediocre talent not worthy of D-1 attention ...and she stands 5-7. Forget it.

Nesbitt is a D-1 player as demonstrated by her offers from Creighton, Drake and Boise State. She is a very nice player just not at the level that ISU needs to compete at the B12 level.

I'd suggest that stories like "Cyclones capture Big 12 title" will do a much better job of building the fanbase, attracting donors, and making converts to the Cyclone family. From the looks of it, BF is pulling in recruits to do just that.
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
Just watched the girl's state championship game, and was wondering where Nesbitt was going.....too bad. I'm sure Bill knows what he is doing, but that girl can break down a defense pretty good.
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
We don't need her. I went to the Ankeny vs. Ames Semifinal game. She wasn't evan that good. Yeah she made some shots but not Iowa State type talent maybe Iowa hawkeye talent. I'm glad they skipped over her. We can someone better.

I got to agree she played phenomenally last night. She put Ames on her back by driving and dishing.
Re: Trisha Nesbitt headed to Iowa
It could be that she is just the wrong type of player for ISU, but I really doubt that she is ISU material if BF passed on her, even though she is from Ames.
Remember that she is only 5-7 and that ISU is over ran with guards right now. At 5-7, she might be lighting things up in high school, but it is unlikely that she will do much in the very talented Big12.
