First Women's BB Game this Sunday
I'll be going to this one as my fiance is a Buena Vista grad so thought this would be a good game to catch even though the Twister Sisters should win easily over a D3 foe in exhibition play. Anyone else here going?
Told her I'd normally give her a point spread, heck I'd even give her 20 but being its exhibition and the bench will likely get a lot of playing time who knows what will happen in garbage time and they could wind up blowing my point spread.

I'd go ahead and give her the 20. I think even in garbage time, this team should blow BV away. We have a very deep team. The final five to see the floor will probably be Mossman, Ashley Arlen, Denae Stuckey, Genesis Lightbourne, and either Claire Rockall or Anna Florzak.
Two of those six (Stuckey and Lightbourne) saw extensive playing time last year, and Florzak is a tested veteran. And those guys are arguably our third string.

Wouldn't miss it. I'm looking forward to Women's BB way more then Men's. Hopefully the men will surprise me and play well this year, and start getting me excited about that.

Re: First Women's BB Game this Sunday
Everyone but Ross and Florzak played today. Pretty laid back approach and Bill basically changed out 5 players about every 5 minutes. Sloppy at times but never a doubt ISU would win today. Hard to really get a feel for what the rotation will look like because it was obvious the coaches were just wanting to get everyone some game action to see what they can do and being a D3 opponent wasn't like they were tested today. BV only had 1 made FG in the first half!

Well, there is a reason for exhibition games. Hopefully it got some of the jitters out while getting some freshman play time. I honestly thought they would play better on offense today, however, it is way to soon to read anything into it.

ISU was a little rusty today, but that is to be expected with a team with a lot of people new to the team, but it was good to get inside Hilton and watch a basketball game. Ashley Arlen impressed me the most among the newcomers, but they all played well. Claire's mom and younger brother were here today to see Claire's first game. It was fun to see the substitutions today it was line change style just like hockey. It's nice to say to a team did you enjoy playing against those 5 well here are 5 more just as good. This team has potential to be scary good.

They took a while to get back into the groove on offense, but after the first 10 minutes things start to come back together. I honestly expected to see a few more 3s, but I'm not worried about it at all. It was fun to be back in Hilton for basketball action, and I can't wait for the rest of the season!

Re: First Women's BB Game this Sunday
Whitney Williams stood out to me the most. she got 12 or 16 minutes, and had 5 assists. She's quick, quick release and nice stroke, hit a three, 2 or 3 no look passes - for a freshman!
I thought Arlen looked good as well, her body looks ready for physical play of the Big 12.
Wieben looked in her old form with her post moves which was good to see.
The team definately looked quicker today. I think the rotation probably limited scoring rythm, as well as Aus only playing eight minutes. It was good to see Stuckey hit a 3 too, but too many fouls/turnovers. Bolte is good in the lane with the short jumpers which really helps our 3 ball attack, adding Whitney's driving quickness is going to fix a lot of the problems the team experienced last year.
I was glad to see a lot of post play, our depth there helps, but we were also playing an undersized team. I've said it before, but we will know just how good this team is when they play Standford and Vandy.
Overall for a exhibition game, I would say B+

Williams will should be All Big12 before she is done at ISU.
good hustle in the second half.
didn't rebound too well.... from the box out, position and anticipation.
couldn't finish near the hoop.
free throws % was under 70%... maybe under 65%.
quick on Defense.
we pushed the ball up.
fun game to be at. saw lots of names play. BF talked to the BV team after the game... We should have a good year... BUT the Big12 games on the road are brutal. at OU, TX, Baylor, Kstate ..... yikes.

"and being a D3 opponent wasn't like they were tested today." Time will tell - BV has a pretty good basketball tradition - wasn't it BV that tested the men a few years ago? I have mixed feelings about the exhibition opponents in recent years. There are better individual athletes on the post-grad allstar teams. The lower division teams are generally less predictable, better rested and more motivated.
