Rankings
Anyone think the Twister Sisters will be ranked when the new rankings come out later today? Had a nice win over the weekend.

Re: Rankings
Someone mentioned in another thread (can't find it right now) that they were in 28th place in the coach's poll so there is a possibility for them to move up there, but they hadn't been receiving any AP votes so probably won't make that jump yet.

You would think they would move ahead of Vandy. But since when have polls made sense?

Re: Rankings
IF it happens, there would be 7 ranked teams in the big 12. I think if we get 7-8 wins, that is good enough to get to the dance.

Re: Rankings
We might see a point or two, maybe Voepel who is an ISU fan, but don't expect much from the AP. So many Big 12 teams for Big 12 regional press to vote for right now. Frankly, I care about beating OSU and BU more than getting ranked this week. If we win one of those games, we will for sure be in both top 25s solid. Vandy is a solid win, but they have lost a lot of games and their RPI is in the doldrums. I think they are suffering from being a little overrated to start the season.
We do well in the coaches poll mainly because of Cindy Stein's voting.

Re: Rankings
There are half dozen Big 12 schools already in the Top 25. [ A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Baylor, KState, and OSU ]
Looking ahead, we play A&M, Texas, and OSU at Hilton this year. A&M is good, we can beat Texas, and we beat OSU in Stillwater last year. Good odds here.
Oklahoma and Baylor are both on the road. We played them tight last season so a road win here is not out of the question.
KState swept us in the regular season last year, but we beat them at the Big 12 tournament. A split this season is certainly possible.
We already beat Vanderbilt but lost to Stanford, both Top 25 teams. The remaining schedule certainly provides us the opportunity to solidify a Top 25 ranking. We can certainly overtake OSU and KState in the polls.

Re: Rankings
NCAA College Basketball Polls, College Basketball Rankings, NCAA Basketball Polls - ESPN
We jumped all the way up to #27. Vandy holds on to a #24 ranking despite two losses last week. (To their credit, they played us tight at home and the other loss was a close loss to #12 Notre Dame.)
There's a good chance we're in the Top 25 of the coaches poll coming out tomorrow.

Re: Rankings
We have that bad loss to Iowa that is totally unexplainable. It will take some big wins this week to erase that.

Re: Rankings
Iowa does still have an RPI of 30, but they've had a disappointing start to the conference season and they have games against Purdue and Minnesota coming up. They could be 8-8 by this time next week. They've played a pretty tough schedule, but it doesn't have any really big names on it other than Duke (who beat them badly).

Well it is a rivalry game on the road...I'm not one for making excuses or anything but rivalry games on the road are tough for any team, and it was at the end of a long road streak wasn't it?

Def think we'll pick up votes in the coaches poll, but you can only get so many from midwestern coaches, ESPECIALLY when there are already 6 teams to vote for.

And beat Texas? you mean the team that beat Tennessee by 20 or so? yeah, we can beat them, but I will be honest and say if we go 1-2 with these three teams, I would be thrilled.
