ISU wins easily. First off, congratulations to Micky on joining ISU's 1,000 point club. Heather continued her hot hand from outside with 5 more 3's put her at 238 50 away from breaking Megan Taylor's record. This is the fourth straight game Heather has had 3 or more 3's.
Seems to me that Bill has tried several different ways to shake our post players out of their funk this season and today I think he just decided to sit them all and try the 4 guard approach. Wieben and Tocara just look as aggressive as they used to. Also, Anderson scored her first points in a while tonight. Hopefully sitting on the bench wakes someone up. We need them in conference.
She was taken out of the starting line up once already this year. I think BF wants to send a message out to her and the other post players. We might be better off playing with 4 guards in all honesty if our bigs don't step up.
To me it seems like she isn't the same after her knee injury. I don't know what it is exactly. She just doesn't have that edge.
Bill was pretty vocal early on then you could tell he wanted to say some things later in the game when there was some sloppy possessions but had to hold it in because of the big lead. Kind of hard to rip on a player when the team is up by 30. This is why I like Bill, when it's close you don't want to irk him but after the game he's all smiles and nice guy again.
I was at the Vanderbilt game on Saturday and he gave Wieben an earful early in that game also. She was benched and responded with a little better play. She did miss a ton of bunnies in that game though, Ross played well during the time she was in.
Bill left her out the entire second half until 5 minutes left. After fumbling a few passes she got two baskets to put herself over the 1k mark. Bill pulled her back out at the next whistle. If he wanted to make a point he could have made her wait until Saturday. It would have added an energy boost to the OSU game! Though on the other hand, he may have said you have 5 minutes to claim your fame - get the ball inside and score or wait until Saturday.
This assumes the reason for all this was motivation and not related to other reasons like knees, health, etc.. Hope she's back on track for Saturday.
I didn't get to watch a whole lot of hte game last night, but it's nice to look at the box score the next morning and see the quality minutes a lot of our bench got. I can't say anything for the lack of minutes by wieven and ross, but Bill may have planned to play the bench quite a bit anyways. Nice to see some of our girls who are playing well get a break going into conference play and help bolster our bench at the same time.
I'm glad the osu game is on FSN and i'll get to watch it on tv this weekend!
