Shellie Mosman
Does anyone know why Shellie Mosman does not play more. Shellie was Miss Basketball in Iowa in 2006. Shellie also committed before her Freshman year in High School. What amazes me is how classy she is and is always cheering on her teammates from the bench. In todays culture so many players would transfer if they did not play much. She is my favorite player because she is such a good role model and a such a nice person. She also has a 4.0 in school. I have two daughters and I would be so proud if they just turned out half as well as Shellie.

Re: Shellie Mosman
I've heard that she found her way into BF's doghouse when she did a business internship this summer instead of focusing on workouts.
(We're both from Carroll and I can confirm she is a great kid -- comes from a real nice family too)

Re: Shellie Mosman
She plays tentative. Doesn't shoot when open. Doesn't shoot well, although she can.

I'm guessing she doesn't make basketball a big priority in her life, and that's perfectly fine as long as she's able to contribute to the team enough to earn her scholarship. There are plenty of ways to contribute even without spending a lot of game time on the court.
Florzak (also a highly-touted recruit) and Mosman got some playing time last season on occasion, but Williams and Yackley are getting those minutes this year. WBB has 15 scholarships (as opposed to the MBB 12) so this sort of thing happens when all the scholarships are filled.

I think that the back injury she has been battling was more the issue for her workouts this summer and fall. Their have been MANY WBB players that have done the same types of internships and I think these are encouraged so that these young ladies are prepared for their life after basketball.

Anna Florzak
Playing or not, it had to be a thrill for Anna Florzak to mingle with her heros from the 1998-99 team Friday and Saturday. As a kid she went to the Big 12 Tournament and watched and fell in love with the likes of Stacy Frese, Megan Taylor, et. al., the style the team played, and the fans they brought to Hilton South. Playing for ISU became her basketball goal, and she achieved it, although I'm sure, like any athlete, she'd like to be playing more.

She throws lackadaisical passes and I don't think her handle is the greatest. Not good for a guard.

Re: Shellie Mosman
Bill Fennelly runs a consistently successful, nationally ranked program. Without quality reserves and quality role players on the team, they don't enjoy the same level of success.
Her role on the team is probably vital. The box score just doesn't point it out.
