Anyone know the extent of Wieben's foot injury that happened towards the end of the game? I thought for sure she tore her ACL again after watching the replay, but thankfully she was able to get up and walk off the floor, so her ACL must be fine. No extent - apparently she's just fine, or did you miss her bouncing around during the team celebration after the game (#5 in the pic) Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Allyssa Dehaan
I didn't see this gal play - she mustn't be really agile or she would be averaging more than 10 pts. Even so, I wonder what Nicky thinks about this 6'9" post player. The State News: Suzy's signature win She's really really skinny. It's not that she's not agile, she just doesn't have an offensive game, other than shooting facing the basket. Think a female Shawn Bradley, only less talented.

I just went through the conference to see who we have played that would have anyone that tall, nobody has anyone over 6-5. Next year, Iowa State, Colorado and Baylor all get new players that are over 6-6. As we all know from men's basketball, you can't win with one player.
I don't know if anyone else has seen this, but ESPN's Hays and Voepel have given their picks for the Sweet 16. ISU and OU are the only Big 12 schools that they both picked to make it to the Elite 8.
I love how everyone keeps talking about how deep ISU is. Women's NCAA tournament: Sweet 16 picks - ESPN

Re: Bring on the hated Michigan State Spartans
I just saw that the full ISU game is going to be on ESPN, Saturday. I finally get to see it.

Forgive me if I don't think this chica causes us too many problems other than a blocked shot here or there - more likely she ends up in foul trouble because she's not stacked enough for her height and can't deal with Wieben & Co, who are used to a much more physical style of play than MSU is capable of playing.

When Wieben was a Soph in HS she faced a 6-8 Sr. Gillian Goring (recruited by UCONN, ending at NC State I believe) for the state title and more than held her own. Been there done that for Nicky. If the team executes like they are capable, we will be in great posistion at games end!

I'm definitely more worried about DeHaan on the defensive side than her offensive game. She averages 10 points and six rebounds, but also chips in three blocks. Our penetration wasn't very effective against Ball State (although I attribute a lot of that to the officials who would not call shooting fouls on either team all night), and with a big shot blocker in the middle I think our drives might be stifled again. That said, for someone that is six inches taller than most of her opponents, 10-6 is not too imposing, and is certainly no Courtney Paris. They do have a couple other stronger forwards and centers though, so it certainly isn't just DeHaan we have to worry about.

Just means if they double down on Wieben she's going to have to find the open Twister Sister sitting outside the 3 pt line and she's gonna have to drain it. Do that like we've been doing all season, and it's "Goodbye MSU, hello Stanford/OSU"...
Personally, I'm of the opinion this girl isn't going to be able to take Wieben by herself. I think Wieben's been toughened by the Big XII schedule, and Wieben will eat her alive if they pull that stunt.

It's been Wieben's most accurate shot as of late.

Re: Bring on the hated Michigan State Spartans
What's Nicki's status after getting landed on Tuesday?
Looked like she was really hurting, but then walked off with no assistance.
Any official word Wed? I know those things tend to swell and get a bit more stiff the next day.
