Coach said she only came to ISU because this is where she could be a complete basketball player. If you recruit someone that way, you should really live up to your word. Besides, versatility is key to winning. Courtney Paris promised a national championship, but they were beaten by a team with more ways to win.
Anna could very well be the 1st real WNBA prospect to come from ISU. With that being said every team we play will do a damn good job of scouting us (her) and will understand her style of play. In our normal rotation those 3pt attempts will be there, but the inside shots still gotta be her bread and butter. With time she will find those opportunities, for now POST UP girl and let the rest come to you. Your fun to watch!!!!
Poppins is still jumping center, and its nice to be winning the tip a lot more often. I think our best chance to win is to rotate two posts and let them take advantage of what the defense is giving them. Prins is obviously pressing with the speed of the help defense. With repetition she'll get better at making the right choice on the fly. Can't wait to see what the 4 bigs can do when all healthy, they are all fun to watch in their own way.
Can't believe this thread is still alive. This loss obviously stung, and was a wake-up call, for the players and the fans, that there is a lot of work to do. The team has to grow as the season goes on. That's why we have the coach we have. He figures out his personnel then finds ways to make it work. With this team being so young, it may take most of the season to get there.
Just remember, Drake lost to UMKC earlier. UMKC didn't magically get that much better than the team ISU whipped last year. A game Drake did not expect to lose, but lost by two. It obviously served as a bit of a wake-up for them. Now we'll see how our girls respond.
