there is also a 6'5" post for 2010 still unsigned. Not starting material, but perhaps recruited as a back up for post play.

that would be a sweet get...
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Michigan and Ohio aren't really that east coast.

Yeah, but I was trying to name players from anywhere east of Illinois or Texas (not counting foreign players). I think we've only come up with three (Dawson, Fox, Schroll). Even Mississippi isn't east coast.

Yes, she was. I think Fenn perhaps no longer recruits much in that state even though he coached there. Been gone too long, maybe? I don't know.

We have at least 3 recruited players on the roster now who are 'role' players. It would be interesting to know how honest coaches are when recruiting kids. From a practicality standpoint, obviously not all players are going to receive significant playing roles. But every coach needs a full roster - and I would bet that the boiler plate line to kids is that they will have the opportunity to compete for playing time - which actually is true.

Jos Anderson was recruited to be back-up for Wieben. BF said that many times.

Many coaches recruit players who do not project to be starters. It happens more in football with special teams in mind, but it also occurs in basketball. Orr once signed a kid who's only D1 ability was the ability to knock down free throws. He wasn't athletic enough to play any meaningful minutes. Orr told Pete in a radio interview that the plan was to insert him in tight games when the opponent was in a situation where they were forced to foul. Get the ball in his hands and let him do his magic at the line. The kid only stuck around for a year or two and I don't believe that he ever made Johnny's gamble pay off.
